Which sub is more scoring zoolgy or botany plz help.

i am m.sc. biotech student, which subject i should select for IAS

Hai I'm chemical engineering graduate, would like to take chemistry and statistics as optional.but I've no knowledge on statistics right now, and I've planned to devote two years for civils preperation.so plz suggest me, whether I can make it or not?

I am Software Engineer and wish to appear for Civil services. For the optional subjects, I was thinking for History and Public Administration. History for the Prelims as well. But, I heard that it is hard to score with this subject. Another options i could think of are: Political science, geography, sociology. Physics is the other one I can think of.
Can anybody please help me with this?

Hi dear,

First of all you have'nt mentioned weather you want it for "Preliminary" or for "Main"

However, you should opt for the subject in which you are good, or the subject which you think you can deliver your best.

It is not necessary that Polical science or Botany or any subjects will be easier, only the subject in which you are good or think you can handle it only that will be easier for you.

Well, since you a Dentist, you can opt "Medical Science" as your Optional.

The most important decision in civils preparation is selecting RIGHT optional subjects.

Irrespective of academic background ,selection of optional subjects will happen.

The famous optional subjects which are regarded as scoring are::

• Public Administration
• Psychology
• Anthropology
• Geography
• Sociology
• History
• Political Science

The above mentioned optional subjects are highly scoring and interesting too. One can score the maximum if they spend enough time with right guidance on these subjects.

First of all, Thanks for your guidance 2 everyone. I am interested in Economics as optional, but from many of the seniors, who are preparing, do not suggest me for this subject. Actually, I dont get bored while reading n understanding this subject. I am not Eco. Hons. I just dis MBA, in that I studied economics for around 1 year. But My concepts are clear. I am in great confusion that whether should i choose this sub as optional or not because of seniors' recommendations. Please suggest me. Thanks.

Success is not depend on the subject you chose it will depend on your hard work.
You have to do work hard to achieve your goal.
If you are prepare you subject in which you are interested then you can easily score good marks.

You chose any subject you want and work hard you will defiantly get success.

Hi dear best optional subject is Sociology or geography. Almost all the students opt these subjects to score more. these are highest scoring subjects. Dont look whether they are of your stream or not. because science students also opt only these subjects so you can do them very well.

I'm MD Osim Akhtar,have been completed MSc. in environmental Sc.I want to choose optional for Prelim as Geography and in main Geog. & Public Admn.Am I right in choosing the optional?As I have keen interested in geography since my school days.Public Admin. is a good Scoring Optional I have best known from various sources,that I would opt for IInd optional.But it is somehow new for me.But I compare the syllabus of Agriculture it seems me that maximum topic I have learnt during my PG & Bsc. level.I thought Is Agriculture be a good scoring optional for Main.( in Optional paper-II)?Pls suggest me.

To become an astronaut you can go for engineering program in either Aerospace or Aeronautical field.

Now you have to do your higher secondary education the science stream.

You have to study PCM specialization in the plus-two level.

You need to score an aggregate of 65% in the 12th board exam. Then you need to take the common entrance test conducted by various institutes/universities.

IIT-JEE, AIEEE etc. are the known entrance exams in the country for the engineering aspirants.
Only well prepared students can clear these exams. For this you can start your preparation at your plus-two level itself.
If you are not interested for the Engineering background you can opt for three year undergraduate program in Mathematics, Biological or Physical science from the recognized university. After the completion of the graduate course you will be able to take the exams conducted by NASA, ISRO etc. for the astronaut aspirants.

I think you are a medical student,so it is better to choose any of the following subjects as optional:

Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science
botany
agriculture
zoology

apart from these subjects,you can choose public administration as your optional subject which is very easy and has a limited syllabus.

Your previous degree doesn't resemble any optional subjects in civil services.
So, you are free to choose any subject on your choice. However, as you are medical student I think you would be good in bio. So you can opt for biology and anthropology. Also, you can opt arts subjects. The privillege with arts subject is that, it will help you very much in the preparation of general studies.
Finally, I would suggest you to choose a subject only on your choice which you like most because UPSC needs perfection and hard labor to the extent, you can go to.
