I think Admission In Particular NIT And IIT Depends Upon All India Rank. And For IIT It Should Be Less Than 500 And For NIT Should Be Less Than 2500 in Particular Stream..

I think, If You Belongs General Category. Chaces Are 50-50. And If You Have Reservation Than You Will Definitely Get NIT...

To get the admission in NIT through GATE entrance exam, for general candidates get 95% marks or above marks and for reserved candidates get 90%marks.

For Gate Exam 2012:

The elligible criteria is:

You should be a final year student or you may be a p[ass out student..

But no pre final year student can appear the GATE exam

Note: The rank validity period is upto one year only..

Admission in National Institute of Technology is based on the All India Engineering Entrance as well as on GATE
GATE rank varies year to year , it is calculated in percentage..
so it's diffucult to say the cutoff mark..
so better u go with ur rank for verification..
if u r not appeared the exam then try ur best to get better result..
it's normally more than 92% for NITS and more than 96% for IITS..
