Well friend, A guy who is desirous to Write IIT JEE exam need to fulfill some Criteria like Educational Qualification and Age limits, Even attempts He has made.

In contrast to Educational Qualification you need to either you are appearing for board Exam Or you have passed your 12 board.

A guy who has passed his 12 board in 2009 is not Eligible to write 2011 IIT JEE exam,

Because IIT JEE Exam can only be given at the time of 12 boards appearing and 2nd will be after passing 12 board.

Only two attempts are permissible For writing IIT JEE.

Quote:

Yes IIT JEE do have Some warrior like minimum % of Marks,

you have to get minimum of 60% in 12 boards. Failing to get this minimum Criteria you are not Eligible for admission into Various IIT's.

But see if you are SC/ST/PD then there's some relaxations upto 5% i.e 55% is the minimum Criteria for these Candidates.

For More Details You can go to Any IIT JEE site and can refer IIT JEE PROSPECTUS..

A candidate appearing for IIT JEE examination must have passed at least class 12th board or equivalent exam from some recognized board or university. Candidates appearing for these exams are also eligible to write IIT JEE examination.

Candidate must be a student of science stream during his 10+2 and must secure at least 60% aggregate marks in his board examination. As there are only two chances available to appear for the IIT JEE exam the candidate must have just given the class 12th board exam or must have passed it only a year back.

Even if you qualify IIT JEE exam and you don't have 60% marks in your 10+2 you will be disqualified for admission at the time of counselling.

Those who are appearing 12th board or equivalent examination and those who have
passed 12th examination 1 year before, are eligible to appear the exam
i.e. For IIT-JEE-2011, one should either be appearing 12th board exams in 2011
or those who have passed 12th in 2010 are eligible for the exam.
i.e. Only two attempts are allowed for a candidate
