You can have a government job immediately after completion of engineering degree. Now you can try for a job that matches your existing qualification, 12th or diploma. By fourth year of engineering, you can attend exams like GATE, CDS or IES. Qualifying GATE helps you to join to Graduate Engineer Trainee positions in PSU. CDS and IES allow you to join to defense and central government departments respectively.

Most certainly you are eligible for the government sector jobs. There is huge requirement for Engineering graduates in the government sector. While you can simply apply for most government jobs that requires graduation like Banking exams, Civil Service Examination etc, the most obvious choice to made would be jobs that are related to the Engineering field.

In this area the first priority of the candidate should be Indian Engineering Service (IES). It is very prestigious entrance exam conducted by the Union Public Service Commission.

It should be your first priority since not only it secures the future, it offers great opportunity to work with top government officials in the future once you gain experience and promotion.

There are few hundreds vacancies that are filled through Indian Engineering Service. Some of these jobs are reserved for the reserve category students.


Eligibility

1. Must be citizen of India to apply.

2. Your Electronics and Communication Engineering degree should be completed from a recognized college.

3. There is no criteria for percentage.

4. The age limit is set at 21 to 30 years for IES.

5. There is maximum of 3 years relaxation for OBC.

6. The relaxation is 5 years for SC and ST.

7. The final year students of B.Tech are also eligible.


If you are unable to clear Indian Engineering Service then Public Sector Undertaking is a very good option. The Public Sector Undertaking is a company which is controlled by government.

These companies are working in various areas from power generation to coal and other natural resources production. You can apply for job in any of the PSU which is hiring Electronics and Communication Engineers.

You will have to check that by reading notification of each PSU. Only after which you should apply for the entrance exam. It is also important to appear for the GATE entrance exam. Since you are in third year of ECE, start preparing for the GATE entrance exam and appear for it in next year.

The GATE exam is important for job in PSU. A large number of PSUs do not conduct written test but ask to present the GATE score.

1. Completion of B.Tech course should be done from recognized university.

2. Must complete the course with 60 percent or above marks.

3. There is a requirement of GATE score in some cases.

4. Your age should be between 21 to 30 years to apply.

5. A maximum of 3 years relaxation for OBC candidates appearing for job.

6. The same relaxation is 5 years for SC/ST.

No dear you are not eligible to get a job at present but yes sure you will get a job when you pass your graduation.

After completing your engineering degree you can apply for jobs in many different places including BSNL,MTNL, PSU's, ARMY. you can also try and appear for civil services. if you are able to crack then you will placed at the highest position in Indian service.

Now a days some government jobs require your GATE score. So you may wanna think about appearing for GATE and then you can sit for interview everywhere.

ya you are elligible for government job after completing UG. you also apply in final year. you have to attend govt exam like (TNPSC, UPSC, TRB AND RAILWAY EXAMS)

Hello Aspirant,

There are numbers of jobs available after your B.Tech degree.You can join any of the govt.deptt.such as Railway,Metro Railway etc.You can also write also write GATE in order to get admission in M.Tech in any of IITS or NITS.

Also you can write CSIR-NET in order to be qualified for JRF & for lecturership.If you qualify for JRF i.e junior research fellowship,you will be admitted in M.Tech with scholarship of Rs18000 per month till two years & if you continue your study for Ph.D,you will get Rs.22000/per month scholarship for a period of three years from the 3rd year i.e after completion of first two years.

If you qualify for lecturership,you can apply for its provided you fulfil the other criteria laid down by UGC.

So you need not worry for govt.job.

You can apply for the below Government Jobs after passing your BE or when you are in the final year of the BE.

>> Engineering Services Exams:
This exam is conducted by UPSC
Eligibilty is BE/BTECH pass
Age should be between 21 and 30 years

>> BSNL JTO Exams:
Eligibilty is BE/BTECH in IT, telecommunications, Computers, Electronis
Maximum age to apply is 30 years

>> GATE Exams:
GATE exams are conducted by IIT
BE/BTECH pass can apply for the GATE exams
Final year BE/BTECH candidates can also apply
You need GATE scores to apply to PSU for jobs
