Age criteria required to appear in IES entrance examination are as follows
you should not have less than 21 years of age and not more than 30 years on the date of August 1st in the year which you are applying for the examination.

i.e., if you are applying for IES 2012 then you have to attain 21 years of age on Aug or before Aug 1st 2012

by this I guess you will not get the required age at that time so you may not be eligible for the examination for next year

there is certain relaxation for Upper age limit but not for minimum age required.

So you should anyway get your 21 years of age..
You will be eligible for the examination after 2012 december only.

For IES exam you must be graduate from engineering . The eligible engineering departments are.

1.Civil Engineering
2.Electrical Engineering
3.Mechanical engineering.
4.Electronics and Communication Engineering.

So you now study on 3 rd year . 3 rd year student are not eligible for for IES exam. But final year student are applicable.

Your age now 20 years so after one year your age should be 21 . So after that age you are applicable for IES exam.

IES is an examination conducted by the UPSC for the recruitment as engineers in various PSUs.
YOUR ELIGIBILITY:-
Actually there is no need to check for eligibility in the age criteria. IES is an exam that is conducted for the pass- outs. but sine the current fourth years would be passing out before its procedure completes, they are also allowed to write the exam.

That is, #rd years are not eligible to write the exam. hence your case is also similar. Do not Worry. You can always write it the next year. Use this time to prepare well.

Eligibility Criteria For IES

In order to appear for the UPSC IES(Indian Engineering Service) exam..you need to fulfill the following criterion :-

1) You should be a B.Tech degree holder or in the final year of your B.Tech and you should have your degree only in the following categories :-

Civil Engineering
Mechanical Engineering
Electronics and Communications Engineering
Electrical Engineering

2) You should be within the age limit of 21-30 years for general category,21-33 years for OBC and 21-35 years for SC/ST

You have a maximum attempts of 4 for general,7 for OBC and there is no restriction on the number of attempts for SC/ST

So,you first need to complete your 3rd year..from the 4th year onwards..you shall be eligible for appearing in the IES exam..

Yes you are eligible for Indian Engineering Service exam.
Indian Engineering Service exam is conducted by upsc every year once.This exam is conducted to intake qualified engineers for Government sector in different departments.

Eligibility criteria for Indian Engineering Service exam:
Education qualification:
Candidate should minimum graduation degree in Engineering from a Mechanical/Civil/Electric Stream.
Age limit:
Age should be between 21 to 30 years.

Indian Engineering Service exam notification for this year:
Issue of application form from 25th Feb 2012 to 24th March 2012.
Exam will held on 15th June 2012.

Indian Engineering Services entrance exam is designed for recruitment of engineers in government services.

IES Exam Eligibility Criteria:-

1) Educational Qualifications:-

Applicable for the engineering graduates who have already completed or who are in last year. but last year students are required to produce the proof of passing engineering degree.

2) Age Limit:- 21-30 years on the first day of august of the year of examination.

IES Exam Selection Procedure:-


1) Written Exam:- Consist of 5 papers of 200 marks each.

2) Personality Interview: who have qualified in written test will be called for personal interview where their personality will be judged, the personality interview will be of 200 marks.

Examination notifications are published in major newspaper and employment news in January / February

Exam is conducted in June/ July every year.

There is one thing I would like to tell you, as you are a 3rd year student of B.E. , so you have to wait for one year . As final year students are eligible for the IES examination.

This examination is conducted by the UPSC (UNION PUBLIC SERVICE COMMISSION)
every year.
Through this examination , one engineering student can become a governmental engineer in various engineering fields like coal-mining, chemical, agricultural, civil department, mechanical etc etc ..
