There are two ways of doing m.tech:
1.through gate score
2.by your own sponsorship.
Since gate makes you eligible for scholarships, its option is complete in govt. colleges.

Yes friend after completing B.tech you are free to give any exam of CAt,MAT,SAT,GATE etc.

This all depends on your interest but i will suggest you to look for MBA as the combination of B.Tech+MBA is given more preference by companies.

Hi,

Yes you are eligible for GATE exam provided you are in the final or pre final year of your course.
However I would like to know that why do you want to do GATE in MA ie mathematics.
Being an IT students, i suggest that why dont you go for Computer Science and Information Technology?
I mean this is more appropriate for you. Anyway, decision is completely yours, do whatever you feel is best for you.

All The best!
