Being in 2nd year of Diploma can I apply for CTET exam?


Can I apply for Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) exam when I have completed 2 years of my Diploma with graduation? I will be finishing my Diploma by this year end.

CTET Eligibility :
CTET stands for Central Teacher Eligibility Test. Eligibility criteria to apply in the exam is written below.

<> Minimum Qualifications for becoming Teacher for Classes I-V:

** Candidates should complete Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 2- year Diploma in Elementary Education(D.El.Ed).

<> Minimum Qualifications for becoming Teacher for classes VI to VIII:

*** Candidates should complete graduation with minimum 50% in aggregate and pass or appearing in final year of 1 year Bachelor of Education(B.Ed) course.

As you have completed graduation, you need to complete B.El.Ed or B.Ed course to appear in CTET exam.

Yes, you are eligible for applying to CTET exam.

The eligibility required for applying to the CTET exan are mentioned below:
For class I - V:

- Senior secondary or its equivalent education with at least 50% from any recognized board. The candidates who are appearing for the 2 year final exam are also eligible for applying to the exam. OR
- Senior secondary or its equivalent education with minimum 50% or the candidates who are appearing 4 years graduation level degree from any recognized board/ university.

For VI - VIII:

- Graduation or its equivalent education with minimum 50% or 2 years diploma in elementary education from any recognized university. OR
- Graduation or candidates passed B.Ed or appearing final year exams with minimum 50% from any recognized university.

- There is 5% age relaxation for reserved candidates based on the government rules.

CTET stands for Central Eligibility Entrance Test and same is the national level entrance test held by CBSE once every year for recruitment of teacher in Centrally funded CBSE schools and other private CBSE schools.

Being a Diploma degree holder you are eligible for appearing in CTET paper I examination for appearing for becoming teacher upto class V if your marks in Diploma holder and higher secondary school degree course is at least 50%.

You will be eligible to write TET, CTET entrance exam after completing Diploma in Elementary Education or after completing B.Ed.
Simply completing Diploma in any other subject you are not allowed to appear in CTET/TET etc.
