I am a final year Engg student and my specialisation is Computer Science,i want to know whether i can take up IES exams,if not then what is the equivalent exam which will get me to a higher post in government sector.

I am doing Msc in computer science,i want to know about histogenetics does it suite for computer field

Yes, of course you can appear for IES exam.

The educational qualification required for appearing in IES exam is as follows:

Candidate must have obtained a bachelors degree in Engineering in any discipline from a recognised University.

Candidates appearing in final year exam of such a qualifying examination may also apply. Such candidates will be admitted to the examination, if otherwise eligible, but their admission would be deemed to be provisional.

Apart from IES you can also appear in civil services exam conducted by UPSC. It will help you to get a higher post in government sector like IAS, IPS, IF etc.

IES is not for cse stream students but yes there are other public sector exams are there which will leed you to scientific post like NIC, NALCO, GAIL, SAIL, BEL, BAL, ISRO, DRDO.

Yes,you can apply for IES.But electrical and mechanical students have more chances than you.So for govt jobs you can try fo IAS,IRS,IFS,defense services.

Dear friend, for your kind information i want to inform you that computer science generally provides job in private sector. very few government jobs are available for computer science student. IES is not for computer engineers. it is available for branches like-Mech. ,E.C.E, E.E.E e.t.c if you want to do job in gov. sector then appear in exams of UPSC like-SSC. Good luck

B.TECH IN COMPUTER SCIENCE IS EQUIVELENT TO B.TECH IN COMPUTER ENGINEERING.

Yes a computer Science Engineering student can apply for IES Exam as the eligibility of IES Exam is degree in engineering only.
Apart from IES Exam one can appear in the prestigious exam of UPSC Civil Services Exam.

I have not any question but i want say somthing,sir,I m third year computer student.I also want to give IES exam.But due to criteria m not doing this.Due to this region I am get very hurted.Is it computer student having less knowledge than others thats why system doing this?

Yes, CSE students can appear for the Engineering Service Exams exam.But note that the Engineering Service exam is conducted for the following categories:

1.Civil Engineering
2.Mechanical Engineering.
3.Electrical Engineering
4.E&C Engineering

Now you being a CSE student, you are eligible for the exam, but have to appear from the above categories only.So if you think you can handle other branch's subjects hen apply in confidence.

Also, as you want to know other jobs in the government sector, you can apply for the CSAT or the Civil Service Aptitude Test, which is held for the selection of IAS and IPS both of which have good career growth opportunities.

If you are interested in the defence jobs, then you can appear for the SSB.

yes u cn appear in ies. bt u have to be select the categories -1,2,3,4 for civil, mechanical,electrical, electronics respectively.
i.e u have to change ur sub and cn take any 2 of a single category.
