IAS stands for Indian Administrative Services .IAS exam is conducted by UPSC every year .This Examination is conducted by Union Public Service Commission.

If you have completed Graduation in any discipline from recognized university are eligible for IAS exam.There is no marks criteria.Final year student are applicable for IAS Exam.

Age criteria for IAS exam for general candidate is 21 to 30 years old.Age relaxation is there as per govt rule .

Age relaxation for IAS exam:-

5 years relaxation for SC/ST candidates
3 years relaxation for OBC Candidates
10 years relaxation for PHC candidates
5 years relaxation for Ex-serviceman

No. of Attempts:

For General: 3
For OBC: 7
For SC/ST: No Restriction

If you want for optional subject for IAS exam then i will proffered you can go for History and Pol science .

IES Stands for Indian Engineering Service examination .

If you have completed B-Tech / BE OR M.Sc. degree or equivalent with Wireless Communication, Electronics, Radio Physics or Radio Engineering as a special subject is also applicable for IES exam.

But you should write your written exam in below departments .So you can choose any department from given below-

1.Civil Engineering
2.Electrical Engineering
3.Mechanical engineering.
4.Electronics and Communication Engineering.

As computer science department you can choose Electronics and Communication Engineering as written subject for IES exam .

The applicant age should between 21 yrs to 30 yrs.Age relaxation is provide for SC/ST/OBC candidate as per govt rule .

A computer Science student is eligible for both IAS and IES examination. But, I would not recommend you to apply for IES examination as this examination is conducted in only these four streams:

1. Electronics
2. Electrical
3. Mechanical
4. Civil

So, it will be very difficult for you to qualify.

For, IAS there are so many options available in both Arts and Science fields to choose from.

You can choose the subject in which you are most confident.

Yes, a Computer Science Engineering Student can give IAS and IES exam.

IAS stands for Indian Administrative Service and to become an IAS officer one has to crack Civil Service Exam, conducted every year by UPSC after Graduation Degree.

The eligible candidate must be an Indian National having either appear for the final Graduation Degree exam or pass in any stream from a recognised University within the age of 21 to 30 years with upper age relaxation for reserved candidate can apply for IAS, Civil Service Exam.

IES - Indian Engineering Service, the entrance exam for which id conducted by UPSC every year.

The eligible candidate must be an Indian National having either appear for the dfinal B.Tech. Degree exam or pass in any stream from a recognised University within the age of 21 to 30 years with upper age relaxation for reserved candidate, can apply for IES exam.

yes you can apply for IAS exam.

Yes any Graduates can give IAS examination. But for IES exam only Engineering Graduates can apply. Both the exams are conducted by UPSC and you have to beat the competition to get the Government job.

So you can apply for IAS examination but for IES exam only Civil, Mechanical , Electronics and Electrical Engineering Graduates are eligible to apply.

Start preparing for IAS exam because you are eligible for it.

Let me explain about both the exams:

The first one is the Civil services examination.

Second one is the Engineering services exam or Indian Engineering services :

Yes friend a computer science engineering student can give both the IAS exam and IES exam.
Both the exams are conducted by UPSC only.

There will be difference in both the exams in the selection procedure as explained below:

Selection procedure for IAS examination:

1) Preliminary :

Paper 1:200 marks.
Paper 2:200 marks.
Preliminary exam is of objective type which covers almost all the subjects .So, better to prepare the NCERT textbooks from class 6 to 12th of all subjects.

2)Mains Exam :Total marks 2000 marks
If candidate qualify the prelims then you will be eligible for the mains exam.This will be descriptive exam.

3)Personal Interview: total marks alloted is 275 marks.
If the candidates successfully completes Preliminary and Mains
then he is allowed for the Personal Interview.


For IES Examination :

Section 1:
Objective type:

1)General Ability Test for 200 marks

2)Engineering Paper 1 for 200 marks.

3)Engineering Paper 1 for 200 marks.

Section 2:

Conventional Paper:

1)Engineering Paper 1 for 200 marks.

2)Engineering Paper 1 for 200 marks.

Yes. A candidate who have completed Computer Science Engineering is eligible to sit for both IAS and IES Exams.

Both the exams are being conducted by UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) once in a year.

There is no Entrance Exam called IAS Exam but there is a civil services exam which will be the common written exam to be placed in all the civil services like
IAS
IPS
IFS etc.

By cracking IES Exam, you will be eligible to get job opportunities in various Engineering services like
Civil Engineering
Mechanical Engineering
Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering etc.

The age criteria will be same to apply for both the exams.

Candidates of General category should be in the age group of 21-30 years.
Relaxation in upper age limit upto 3 years for the candidates of OBC category.
Relaxation in upper age limit upto 5 years for the candidates of SC or ST category.

To be placed in civil services, the selection procedure is

But it is not a good choice of preparing for both the Exams at a time. Because you can not complete the syllabus for any of these exams.

IAS stands for Indian Administrative Services and IES stands for Indian Engineering Services. UPSC conducts two different entrance exams for both services. Civil Services examination is for IAS, IPS, IRS, IFS etc. IES examination conducted separately for engineering services.

The minimum qualification for Civil Services examination is that candidate must have done bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognized university. For IES exam, it is bachelor's degree in engineering or technology.

Computer science engineering candidate can apply for both exams. But in case of engineering services exam, you can give examination in any of four streams of engineering:

Yes, why not, you can choose History or Political science to appear for Civil Services examination after completion of bachelor's degree in Computer science engineering. Now, candidates have to choose only one optional subject. You can either choose History or Political science and International relations as your optional subject.

Eligibility criteria for Civil Services examination:
