The Indian Economic Service (IES) is an organized Group ‘A’ Central Service and was constituted in 1961 with an objective to undertake economic analysis and render advice for designing development policies for governments. The Cadre Controlling of the IES is located in the Ministry of Finance (Department of Economic Affairs). The direct recruitment is one on the basis of an All-India open competitive examination called the IES Examination, conducted by the Union Public Service Commission. In case IAS too, UPSC conducts the examinations comprises of three sections Preliminary Examination which covers objective type questions, Mains which is subjective type questions and personal interview questions.

IES Examination is conducted by Union Public Service Commission Once in a year. 2014 Exam announcement was already released and online application forms has been started. Interested candidate apply for Engineering Service Examination on or before 21 April 2014. Few days are left close the online registration. The application forms are received in only online mode and there is no offline mode application forms.

Eligibility :- The aspirant must have a completed Engineering degree from a recognized University or equivalent qualification and final year of engineering degree may also eligible to apply for this examination. No percentage bar required to apply for this examination. The aspirant must have a minimum 21 years and maximum 30 years as on 1st January 2014. Both the male and female candidates are eligible to apply for this examination. Those who are completed M.Sc degree or equivalent with Wireless Communication, Electronics, Radio Physics or Radio Engineering as Special Subject.
