Information about IES entrance exam? I am a student of IIT Guwahati


Sir, currently i m student of IIT guwahati 2nd year mechanical dept..i m looking forward for cracking ies..is it true fr me to run behind ies or to get a job which is highly paid...how can i get good rank in ies ?

Yes sure you can go for IES as it is very good option and you will get lot if you are able to crack it...

For it you need to make your concepts clear and more and more preparation is nesessary.

IES Stands for Indian Engineering Service Examination .IES exam is conducted by UPSC in once time in year.

If you have completed engineering discipline in following departments then you are eligible for IES exam

1.Civil Engineering
2.Electrical Engineering
3.Mechanical engineering.
4.Electronics and Communication Engineering.

The applicant age should between 21 yrs to 30 yrs.Final year student also eligible for IES exam .

You are now 2nd years of engineering degree so you have enough time to take preparation for IES exam .From the syllabus you can choose any two subject which subject , you covered by the full syllabus of IES .

I have listed some books name , you should collect some books .You should give 1 - 2 hr every day for IES books .

Dear Avinder,

The acronym for IES is Indian Engineering Services.

Indian Engineering Services are the civil services that meet the technical and managerial functions of the Government of India.

IES officers are selected by the union government on the recommendations made by the Union Public Service Commission(UPSC) every year.

The eligibility criteria required for the IES examination are prescribed as below:-

* Completion of graduation in Engineering(B.E. / B. Tech) in these following disciplines from any recognized college or university:-

i) Civil Engineering.
ii) Mechanical Engineering.
iii) Electrical Engineering.
iv) Electronics and Telecommunication engineering.

* Completion of post-graduation in Wireless Communications, Electronics, Radio Physics or Radio Engineering.

* Age limit:- 21-30 yrs.

* Age relaxation:- 3 yrs for OBc and 5 yrs for SC/ST contenders.

* Nationality:- Indian.

IES - Indian Engineering Service conducted by UPSC for appointment of young Engineers in the top technical post under various Central Govt. Dept.

The eligible candidate must be an Indian National having either appear for the final B.tech. Degree exam or pass in any stream preferably in Civil/Mechanical/Electrical/Electronics & Telecommunication stream from a recognised University within the age of 21 to 30 years with upper age relaxation for reserved candidate.

As you are student of IIT after completion of B.Tech. Mechanical stream yiu are eligible to apply for IES.

Eligibility for IES:-

-The candidate must be an Indian National
-Should have either appear for the final B.Tech. exam or pass in any stream preferably in Civil/Electrical/Mechanical/Electronics & Telecommunication branch from a recognised University.
-Should be within the age of 21 to 30 years with upper age relaxation for reserved candidate.

As you are pursing 2nd year Mechanical B.Tech. Degree in IIT, Guwahati, after completion of the same or in the final year you can apply for IES.

Dear Friend,

The abbreviation of IES is Indian Engineering Services.



IES exam is the civil service exam. This civil service exam is organized by Union Public Service Commission every year.

The educational qualifications regarding with IES exam are below mentioned:-

* Opponents must have finished bachelor degree in B.Tech or B.E. in anyone of these curricula Electrical Engineering/Civil Engineering/Electronics and Telecommunication engineering/Mechanical Engineering from any approved institution.

* Opponents must have finished master degree in anyone of these curricula Electronics/Radio Engineering/Wireless Communications/Radio Physics from any approved institution.

The age criteria and relaxation regarding with IES exam are below mentioned:-

* 21-30 years.

* Relaxation:- 3 years, 5 years, and 10 years for OBC, SC/ST and PH opponents.

im a student of BE 3rd yr frm electricl engg and i want to prepare for ies xam bt i m an average studnt..is it possible to crack plus how much time i should gv for preparation daily?and how to start?
