helo sir,i have not appropriate percentage during my b.e(ece) for psu jobs like bhel,iocl,etc.so i going to write gate exam.can i apply for psu jobs through gate.pls rply me .

Yes, you can apply for the PSU jobs through the GATE exam. There are certain public sector companies who recruit the candidates based on the GATE score. PSU - Public Sector Union are the government sector companies which recruit candidates for the executive trainee position every year.

Till last year, all the PSU's held their own entrance examinations based on which they selected candidates. However from this year, some of the PSU companies like NTPC, BHEL, ONGC, NHPC etc have impresses upon the GATE score, and finally decided that they would recruit candidates on the basis of the GATE score and rank.

GATE - Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering is an all India level entrance examination which students need to attempt after completion of their graduation in B.E/B.Tech/B.Architecture, in order to get admission for M.Tech or jobs in PSU's.

So you must meet the eligibility criteria's for GATE which are as follows :

1. You should be a graduate as stated above.

2. Your minimum age should be 21, and there is no upper age limit.

3. So you can take as many number of attempts as you want.

4. Pre final year students cannot apply, however the final year appearing students can apply for the GATE exam.

Now based on the score you are able to score in the exam, and correspondingly the rank you secure, you may apply for the PSU's which would recruit with the GATE statistics.

However there are many PSU's who still would hold their own entrance examination, and so you have to keep an eye on the special companies you want to get into, and then fill up their respective forms whenever they are out.

Important Dates for the GATE 2012 :

1. The sale of the application forms starts from – 12-9-2011

2. Last date for the submission (online application) was – 17-10-2011

3. Date for the online examination is - 29 -1-2012.

4. Date for the offline examination is – 12-2- 2012.

5. The results would be declared on – 15-3- 2012.

So prepare and apply accordingly and all the best.

Yes, you can get job in public sector unit through the GATE score .you must get more score for in GATE and then you easily get placed.

what %age is needed to get into PSUs through gate??

PSU stands for Public Sector Undertaking. These companies are controlled by government of India since GOI owns at least 51 percent stake in such companies. If you want to apply for jobs in these companies then it is important to meet the percentage criteria.

GATE entrance exam is only the replacement of written test conducted by the PSUs. It will not make up for the percentage required by the Public Sector Undertaking. Basically PSU conducts a written test which is followed by an interview to select a candidate.

Now some companies have replaced writtent test with GATE entrance exam, while other PSU companies give exemption to candidates from appearing into written test if they have scored good marks in General Aptitude Test for Engineering.

But all this comes into picture only if you have the required criteria to apply for the PSU job. Since you don't meet the criteria for percentage, I am afraid that appearing for GATE is not going to make any difference at all. Please check the criteria below. If you meet this then only apply for PSU job.


PSU Eligibility

1. You should be of Indian origin.

2. A B.Tech degree in any discipline.

3. At least 60 percent marks in B.Tech.

4. Reserve category candidates are given some relaxation in percentage.

5. There should be no pending backlogs.

6. You should also appear for GATE entrance exam.

7. The age limit is 21 to 30 years for PSU.

8. OBC get 3 years relaxation.

9. While for SC/ST, there is 5 years relaxation.
