hello, i m Nidhi doing Bsc 2nd year wid Zoology subject can i apply for the UPSC exammination if yes then which type of subject are required.

yes you can attempt the UPSC examination but you will not be able to get any posts through the UPSC examination because to be eligible for this exam you should be a degree holder.
secondly as you are a life science student you can choose science as your subject.
i suggest that you should apply for coaching classes before giving attempt to this exam. i know some classes which are best for UPSC preparation in pune,maharashtra. these are DNYANPRABODHINI,CHANAKYA.

hii friend its no use if you get into now itself first finish off your degree and then apply for upsc examination because its qualification eligibility is degree holder....

definately you can apply to UPSC exam.but the qualification is degree to write exam UPSC.so even you apply,you not able to join in that field.because you studying 2nd year,so one more year is pending to join in UPSC.
So apply when you are complete degree.

No. Right now, you are not eligible to take UPSC Examination. you need to complete the Graduation to be eligible for the same.

Considering the subjects, You can take any subjects from the list of 27 subjects recognised by UPSC. NO restrictions with your graduation specialisation.

Yes you can appear for it as final year students are definetely eligible for appearing in IAS exams.

The eligibility criteria states that you should be a Graduate Indian National with age between 21 to 30 years.

You can apply both online & offline.

It will be better if you apply online.

You can apply offline too.You can easliy get the application form from any GPO's near your residence by paying a minimal amount of 30Rs/-

Both online & Offline forms must reach by 21st March, 2011.So be quick if you want to apply for it this year.

Also you can appear for it 4 times only so do prepare well before appearing in the exam

Exam will be on 12th June 2011.

NO, you cannot apply for UPSC Examination being B.Sc. 2nd year with Zoology subject because: -

Minimum Eligibility For UPSC exam are as follows: -

1. Pass graduation in any subject or in any engineering stream or equivqlent from a recognised institute / university.

2. Age - 21 Years to 30 Years for General candidates, 21 Years to 33 Years
for OBC candidates and 21 Years to 35 Years for SC / ST candidates.

3. Nationality - Indian

NOTE: - Final year appearing candidates can also apply for UPSC exam.


UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) conducts following examinations are as follows: -

(i) Indian Administrative Service (IAS)
(ii) Indian Foreign Service (IFS)
(iii) Indian Police Service (IPS)
(iv) Indian Engineering Service (IES)
(v) Indian Revenue Service (IRS)

no you can not apply for the UPSC because for this you need to have a degree in hand
and you now in 2nd year so wait for the one more year then you can apply .
till then work on preparation for the exam

Sorry you can not apply for PSC civil services exam while studying in the 2nd year of Bsc course because you do not meet the educational requirement.

The minimum academic qualification required for appearing in civil services exam conducted by UPSC is that the candidate must have passed bachelors degree in any discipline from a recognised university.

Final year candidates can also apply on provisional basis but 2nd year students are not allowed to appear in the exam.
