i have 40.5 in BA honors and 48.% in MA in english from a university in Bengal in india .How can i enter in Ph.D course in english or any other subject in India /

Sorry, but you are not eligible to do P.hd in M.A, because the minimum eligiblity for
P.hd is to get more than 50% marks in master degree. but you dont score 50%
marks, so you are not eligible................

No I dont think that any good university provide P.hd without 55%.
Take some example like DU Mumbai university Calcutta University, they all need minimum of 55 %.

I have got 53% marks in M.A & having 15 yrs of experience in teaching.So i can do distance learning PH.D from any University.

Eligibility criteria for PHD--

1-B.E./B.Tech./M.E./M.Sc.(Engg.)/M.Tech. in any branch of Engineering or M.Sc. from a reputed institution is necessary. Candidates are required to have very good academic record and background or experience in Information Technology.

2-Fresh candidates (B.E./B.Tech./M.Sc.) besides an excellent academic record should have exceptional (CS,IT or EE) GATE scores. For working candidates, the requirement of GATE scores is relaxed provided they have at least two years relevant experience in CS/IT.

3-Candidates desirous of earning a Ph.D. in a particular area should exhibit deep understanding and maturity in that area. This is evaluated through an extensive interview by a panel of experts. A description of one or two proposed areas of specialization (1-2 pages per area) is to be attached along with the application form. The description should include references to work published in leading journals or conference proceedings including at least one reference to seminal work in that field.

Since your percentage is low so its difficult for you to do PHD after MA.

For pursuing Ph.D minimum you should have secured 55% at PG level

You have one other option: Can join M.Phil.at any reputed University with your marks, and after that you can go for Ph.D

no. i donot any better university can provided p.hd with out 55% but once chance some university provided p.hd on the basis of entrance so you can clear this then some chance for admission in p.hd level

don't worry!!!!

most of the colleges in india have min. cutoff above 50% and for phd courses you caould face a cutoff of above 70% as well but there are some self deemed colleges in west bengal where you can can look for admission since they do not have such cutoff's criteria's .

for doing phd, you have to pass your masters degree with atleast 50% marks. Since you are not having that, you are not eligible for doing phd.

you can do P.HD from some colleges which has cut off of 50% at post graduate level.

i got 59% in MCA from Ignou can i do PHd

job is your ability to look at your career.
mark are not at all constraint.
you can apply at central universities.

Since your percentage in master level is not more than 50%, therefore you are not eligible for PhD course. But if you really want to opt the course then you try for distance learning course in which , for some universities, the percentages are even below 50%.

I don't think that you can get a good reputed institute for doing Phd ..

Because most of the universities require at least 60% marks in master's degree for studying Phd course..

May be in some open universities you can apply for Phd..and these institutes also offer fellowships...

most of the college have 55% eiligibility criteria but there r few colleges whose cutoff is 50% so it depends upon college profile

I am Chaitali Biswas. I live in Kolkata. On 2002 I have completed my graduation course in ceramic sculpture arts from govt. of art collage with 61.25% marks . After that on 2004 I also finished my M.A course in folklore From Kalyani University having 54.125% marks.

So I want to know can I appeared for phd course in folklore or fine arts? Can i qualify for net exam for doing lecturership?

I do not think that you are eligible for pursuing PHd without scoring 55%marks. i myself being from west bengal and just completed my MA in english only know very well about the scenario.
for PHd in bengal either you have to be a NET qualified (minimum eligibility to appear for the exam is 55% marks in MA) or have to sit for SLET or university based PHd entrance exams.

Thus, I am very much disappointed to tell you that you are not eligible

it will be very tuff for you to getting chance to do Ph.D without 55% in MA.

as most of the good university demands 1st class in post graduation.

but some university wants only 55% marks.

you can try for those university.
