As if you have cleared GATE then there will be separate marks for interviews, B.tech % and Gate Score after you called for interview.
So totally depend on your luck as Gate Score value is 70% and 20% your interview and rest 10% your academics and Extra curricular activities.

For pursuing M.Tech, the selection for your admission procedure is divided in different parametres. The parametres are based on this statistics that your gate score card matters 70%, whereas your personal interview has a 20% weightage and your academic percentage matters only 10%. This is the distribution of the parametres to take admission in the M.Tech and as you belong to the st category, you have a very strong chance to get into IITs and PSUs with a considerable gate score card.

It cannot be decided without giving the exam.
You should start preparation for this exam as per its syllabus.

Generally, 60% is the minimum requirement for getting into IITs. U didn't mention your from which category ST/SC may relaxed upto 50% though u have to score a very good rank for getting into IITs.

After getting a rank below 1000 your chances will be good but you have to face interview also because of your low percentage and have to clear that.

For now just concentrate on your studies try your luck.

I am in my fouth year of Btech and so far my percentage has been 65 and no kts but owing to my health issues my percentage dropped in my 6th sem .I am intenteding to give GATE in Feb,2014 whilst I will be in my 8th sem and am hoping to cover up for my percentage drop in my final year .Does this weaken my chances of admission to colleges like UDCT AND IIT?

as you belongs to ST caste there is a chance of getting admission in IIT .
