Can I take tamil as a subject for IAS Mains? I've done B.Sc (Fashion Tech).


hello! sir, i am kumar. I done bsc, fashion tech.but previously i done tamil literature. I am interested in tamil and i have know ledge in tamil. Can i take tamil in ias exam?

IAS stands for Indian Administrative Service

This is a Civil Service Exam and this exam is conducted by UPSC(Union Public Service Commission).This exam is conducted every year for candidates to join in for the post of IAS Officer.


Selection Procedure:
  • Preliminary Exam
  • Mani Exam
  • Interview


The candidate need to pass through Preliminary to appear for Main Exam and pass Main Exam in order to be eligible for attending Interview


Can I take tamil as a subject for IAS Mains?


There are optional subjects which you can choose for Preliminary and Main Exam,as you have asked for Main Exam and that to for Tamil Subject,Yes you can choose Tamil as Subject in Main Exam

You need to satisfy the eligibility criteria framed for the exam

Eligibility Neeed For IAS Exam:

>> Candidate should be a citizen of India

>> Age Limit for the exam is that

For General candidates : 21-30 years
For SC/ST candidates : 21-35 years
For OBC candidates : 21-33 years
For Ex-service candidates : 5 years from the prescribed limits

>> Those who are completed their graduate degree with any desire subject from a recognized University and final year of degree are eligible to apply for this IAS Exam


If you are satisfying these criteria's then you can apply for the IAS Exam
