Re: Which course is better after Diploma in Mechanical Engineering?
Ofcourse you should go for higher studies i.e for a degree course.
After polytechnic you can prepare for lateral entry exams which if you clear you get direct 2nd year admission in B.Tech colleges. I think degree is the only best course available after diploma. Please note that you must get above 60% to be eligible. Higher the better So prepare hard for the entrance exams. Some of the exams are Thapar LEET-TU LEET IPUCET state cet etc |

As you are a diploma holder in mechanical engineering you should go
for B.tech. in mechanical engineering. there are some colleges that allow change in stream too but i would suggest you to continue your studies in the same stream. The top colleges that offer direct admission to 2nd year through entrance test are Indraprastha university SLIET MIT, Manipal CUSAT KIITS Orissa As you are a diploma holder in mechanical engineering you should go for B.tech. in mechanical engineering. there are some colleges that allow change in stream too but i would suggest you to continue your studies in the same stream. Re: Which course is better after Diploma in Mechanical Engineering?
Hello friend,
After polytechnic, B.Tech in mechanical engineering is best option for you. Suppose if you have diploma degree then you will get admission directly in 2nd year by the lateral entry procedure. But the criteria will be more than 60% in diploma. Many colleges conduct entrance test for the admission into the 2nd year. |

Re: Which course is better after Diploma in Mechanical Engineering?
You should surely consider taking a degree in Mechanical Engineering. You can avail of the Lateral Entry scheme. By this you can join the second year of Engineering directly. This is provided that you have pursued the diploma course from a recognized institute. You will need to appear for the entrance exams to avail of this scheme.

Re: Which course is better after Diploma in Mechanical Engineering?
Its better that you go through the B.tech course after completing your diploma.there are various exams conducted like IIT/AIEEE through which you can seek a seat in one among the IIT's or NIT's.But since you lack the foundation of 11th and 12th standard Mathematics it will be better that you go through coaching centers if you wish to see yourself in IIT's or NIT'S.
There are even State level examinations conducted for the Polytechnic students who seek entrance for the Engineering course. You can get a direct entry to the Second year if you wish to join yourself in a college which is under a particular University or if you wish to join in Universities then you cannot gain a direct entry to the second year but start things from the first year itself, but it even depends upon your score in the entrance test. You can even apply for the Navy through Direct Entry Artificer (Diploma Holders) Examination. You can apply for companies like HAL,BHEL,BHPV since your a diploma student. |

Re: Which course is better after Diploma in Mechanical Engineering?
B.Tech is the best option for you. You can join B.Tech in various colleges as a lateral entry through E-CET exam, through which you can join directly join in the 2 nd year of B.Tech and make sure that you get good rank in E-cet exam and there is little competition for this exam.
If you are not interested in further studies, you can have a variety of jobs in automobile, chemical, electronics, steel plants, oil exploration and refining, technical wings armed forces, space research organization etc. Otherwise you can do some certification courses in AutoCAD, Pro/engineer etc |

Re: Which course is better after Diploma in Mechanical Engineering?
Dear friend,
Your question is genuine. I would like to suggest you to go for higher study ie B.E. in Mechanical Engineering for your bright future in case your finencial conditions are sound. For the admission in BE you can appear in lateral entry exams. After clearing lateral entry exams you can take admission in 2nd year of B.E. In case you want job then you can go for some computer courses because now a days computer knowledge is must in all the fields. All the best. |

the best option after diploma is that, you must take admission in b.tech in mechanical engineering through lateral entry. this is because now a days there are very less jobs available for diploma holders but for a engineer a lot of jobs are there. |
