What if I score just 50% in graduation but more than 90% in CAT? Am I still having chances of being selected at oe of the IIMs?

Do IIMs give greater preference to those students who are from a well reputed college or institutions, suppose the IITs?

first of all IIM are not selecting students on the basis of their graduation institutes......
to be more specific .....IIM is a group of institute which gives management courses......and previously management were confined to students of commerce and arts .........

but as time changed ....even engineers appeared for management exams.......and it was never the case when IIM used to select students on institute basis whether they are from engineering or commerce field........

it is a fact that IIM considers the percentage scored in 10th,12th and graduation .....but if you score good at CAT ie about 98 percentile then only you have a good chance to enter any of the IIMs ..........

so dont aim for 90 go for 99.......this will give you a good seat in IIM even if you have scored 60% in graduation...............

For all IIMs, the minimum eligibility criterion for admission to PGP is a three-year Bachelor's degree or equivalent (in any discipline), recognized by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) / All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) as eligible for Post-Graduate Studies in Management, with minimum 50% marks.

no there is no preference for any student from any college
the admission is purely and interviews and group discussionely based on your performance in cat
i dont think that you will get admission in any iim,based on your performance

IIM prefer the students who score better in CAT & then judge them how they do in their GD & PI you should clear its cut off marks
you must have gradution degree

first of all i would like to inform you that iim does not select students on the basis of colleges , what ever it be nits or iits. it select the students on the basis of the percentile which one secure in cat exam.
1.minimum eligibility criteria for this exam is 50% in graduation
2 you have to secure at leat 98 percentile for an entry in to iim

No there is no such preference for IITians as far as i know. IITians get into IIMs because they are hardworking and they have the zeal to crack the toughest exams.

Dont worry if you are not one of the IITians who have a born talent to give 100%.

If you work hard and equally hard like IITians and even you can get 99 percentile which can easily get you into the IIMs.

So dont feel that way prepare well for CAT as only those get through who show some commitment.

A 99.7 + percentile is likely to land you calls from a few of the IIMs, IIMC including, I hope.
IIMs give greater prefernce to only high percentile candidate not any institute. So prepare for high percentile.

The IIM's criteria is to selec the cream at his/her present though they see the academic background but it takes a secondary position if you give your best at the time of interview and Essay writing session.
If you have impressed the panel with your capabilities and intelligence then you are right in IIM's.
And its great that you have done such a hardwork and have secured such a good percentile in CAT..

yes,iitians are preferred but one can compete with them.
there is nothing odd.
no,you cant be eligible for cat without 60% in graduation.

in case of any clashing in percentile is there ny preference given to btec students

your are eligible for iim but there is a very tough competion among the 99.9 percentile holder, iim prefer only those student who is having above 80% in graduation and above 90%tile. if u score more than 99%tile then you will have the preference.. so try to work hard to get a percentile abouve 99...... ok best of luck

- write CAT exam
-Score above 99 percentile in CAt
-Apply seperately to the different IIMs
- if you get a call from them, you need to attend the interview, group discussions, etc.. you gotta clear it... then you are through to the IIM

No IIT stuents will not get the preference for the IIM campus.Every where lastly the knowledge wins ,so admission as totally on the basis of test.

You are not eligible for the CAT my friend.

YES, they give little bit preference to students which are graduating with IITs. because they think and also they find that IITians are very talented and they posses good technical skills.

also IITians scores exceptionally well in the CAT exam.

yes, if you are getting near about 90 percentile in CAT then certainly you will get the seat in IIMs.

so do hard work for the exam.go ahead.

I dont have 50 % in graduation but have 69 % in post graduation. Im not eligible for CAt on the basis of my current most education.
If i make a good percentile in CAT, will they give me a call or is it that people not eligible for IIMs are discarded even before the scores
are calculated.

To get admission in IIM, you have to secure an excellent score in CAT exam..

Through CAT exam you will be able to take admission in IIM..

It does not matter that you have passed your graduation from IIT or not.

If you have secured a good percentile in CAT exam then you will get a chance to apply for IIM's..

So, get prepare for CAT exam and try to do well in that..

To get admission in one of the IIM's , you have to score above 98 percentile..

So, you need to work harder..

The eligibility for CAT exam is 50% in your graduation whatever might be your stream in Graduation.But as a matter of fact Engineering students secure more number of seats to pursue MBA through CAT.
So you are eligible for the exam if you have 50% in your graduation
