yes you are eligible. there are no problem to appear in GATE examination if you have one backlog also.

GATE score card is valid for two years. now if you are able to clear your backlog in this two years and if you complete your B.Tech study then you will be eligible to take admission in master degree with GATE score. at the time of GATE examination they never check about your academic qualification.

you have already cleared your backlog. no problem is there to appear in GATE examination. you may appear in GATE examination when you will be in your third year of B.Tech.

best wishes.

Backlogs doesn't make any effect to write GATE exam.
you can apply the GATE exam, though you have backlog at that moment.but if you qualified in gate exam,to apply for m-tech colleges you should not have backlog,if you clear all the backlog within the time there will not be that much problem.but please reduce backlog exam,if you have many, the time of interview will not be in safe position. So work hard and clear subject first attempt.
you can apply for GATE exam when your are in 4th semester,if you qualify first attempt that rank will be qualified for two years.

Thumbs up Re: Eligibility for GATE after Backlog exam in 1st semester cleared in 2nd semester?

don't worry dear..there is no problem ..

definitely they will consider you..

all you have to do is you should submit your degree when called for counselling.

at that time you should not have any backlogs thats all ..

the general gate elgibility is

you should be in pre-final year or

in final year.

when you get the result..and called for counselling

you should submit the orginal degree certificate.

and that's it..there are no more huge restrictions.

all the best

Dear aspirant,
The minimum qualification for GATE is bachelor degree or students who are in the final year of their BTech also eligible.Even though you have failed in 1st year but you have cleared it in your 2nd year,so you are eligible to write the GATE.If you have backlogs till your final year also, you can write GATE.But then you have to submit the mark memo or a letter from your principal indicating that you have backlogs.
But you don't have this problem, you can write the GATE exam freely in you final year of BTech. If you work hard and did well in GATE you will get plenty of opportunities.
