what is the eligibility for writing aptitude test for iiser direct admission?

The Direct Admission in IISER has Started from this year. The Marks Mention for 10th and 12th are just the cutt off for your Application to be accepted at the IISER after that you have to come to appear in the IISER Aptitude test.


Eligiblity Creteria -

Students are Satisfying at least following one of the three Creteria for applying -


IIT JEE - Student obtaining Minimum 60% marks in class 12th and securing a rank in the regular merit list.

For State/ Central Board Direct Admission - Student qualifying in the class 12th in 2010 OR 2011 in Science stream

For KVPY - Student qualifying in SA, SX , SB, SP ( Passed 12th in 2010 - 2011 ).


For KVPY - Application was started from April end to May end, And councelling date was First week of July 2011.

For IIT JEE - Application was started from June Begning to June end, And councelling date was First week of July 2011.

For Direct Admission - Application was started from June Mid to first week of July, And councelling date was Third week of July 2011.


And Registration for all these mention Stream are held within first week of August 2011.

5. Do I need to apply separately for each channel?

Yes

6. Can I apply through more than one channel?

Yes. Requires separate application for each channel.

7. Does reservation of seats apply for admission?

Yes. As per Govt. of India rules: 15% SC; 7.5% ST; 27% OBC (non-creamy) of the total intake. Reservation for the PD candidates: 3% of each category.

8. How do I apply?

Application is only online. www.iiser-admissions.in

9. When should I apply?

Check IISER admission website between mid May to end of June 2011. See Question 22.

10. Is there an application fee?

Yes. Non-refundable application fee for each admission channel:
(1) Rs. 500/- for General/OBC applicants.
(2) Rs. 250/- for SC/ST

11. What is the mode of payment?

Through Bank transfer. Details will be announced later.

12. Is there any financial support for admitted students?

Yes. Subject to satisfactory academic performance at IISER, all students admitted to IISERs are eligible for INSPIRE/KVPY Scholarship of Rs. 5000/- per month. More details can be found at the following URLs:

13. Can I be a day-scholar at IISER?

No. IISER students are required to stay in campus hostels.

14. Are all candidates satisfying the eligibility criteria admitted to IISERs?

No. Admission is based on ranking in
(1) KVPY
(2) IIT-JEE and
(3) Aptitude test conducted jointly by IISERs.

15. How do I make my choice of IISER?

You will be asked to give your preferences at the time of counseling.

16. Do I get the IISER of my choice?

The allotment is on the basis of the applicant's choice and rank.

17. Can I transfer my admission from one IISER to another at any time?

NO. Allotment to an IISER is final. No application for transfer to another IISER will be entertained.

18. Is there a fee for counseling?

Yes. A non-refundable fee of
(1) Rs. 1000/- for General/OBC applicants
(2) Rs. 500/- for SC/ST

19. When and where will the counseling be held?

You can choose any one of the IISERs for counseling while applying. See Q23 for tentative dates.

20. Will all applicants be called for counseling?

No. Only shortlisted candidates will be called for counseling.

21. Is there a interview at the time of counseling?

No.

22. What is the curriculum structure for BS-MS dual degree programme?

For the first four semesters, all students will take common courses in all disciplines (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics) & Humanities. IISER Kolkata has BS-MS in earth sciences also. From the fifth semester onwards, one may opt for courses in one or more areas. The final year will be devoted to a research project.

23. What are the important dates for IISER admissions?

CBSE classes 11th and 12th standard syllabus in Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics

25. How many papers are there?

Only one paper of maximum 2 hours with equal weightage for Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics.

No

28. Where is the IISER aptitude test conducted?

At the IISER of your choice for the aptitude test. You can conveniently choose any of the 5 IISERs as the aptitude test centre at the time of applying.

i am currently in class XII and am willing to write the aptitude test but have only physics,chemistry and mathematics as my subjects. Is biology section compulsory?

for direct you need a really good percentage.
aptitude test is really simple.

No it is not compulsory to take all three. even i had only pcm.

There is no mention of a cut off in any of their sites and the mode of application and format is also not specified in their site.... if you can give me any more information about it... i would be very grateful!

no required % is 91.8% in class 12th for CBSE

dear friend, cut off marks to admission in 5 most best iiser college is different for different states. you can see these details on the link www.inspire-dst.gov.in
for example; if you are a student belongs to punjab, and cut off %age for here student is 78.68%. this means if ur %age is more 78.68% than u can easily apply for it by any mode 1)kvpy
2)iit jee
3)board examination

Dear friend :- yes, u can apply. but in aptitude test maths is also included .
I means to say that aptitude test paper will contain 1)physics
2) chemistry
3) maths and
4) biology
questions of each subject will be in equal weight. so friend, u must have to read maths to qualify the exams.

yes u can write amplitude test on the basis of +2 marks. for 2011 admission in iiser admission procedure is started u can see it on website www.iiser-admission.nic.in

u can enter in iiser by three ways
1) by kvpy
2)by iit jee
3)by board exams
by 3rd way you can enter on the basis of +2 marks which u can see at the website www.inspire-dst.gov.in
at this site u will see the cut off marks required for different states. if your %age is greater than that of in website. then u have to fill applicaton forum on the site www.iiser-admission.nic.in

it is difficult to say about the minimum %age required to take admission in iiser because it dependes on the cut off marks required, which is different for different states .
so tried to get higher %age in +2 and before filling application forum u must see minimum %age required. which will be helpful to u

no,.........no..........iit jee is not necessary to take admission in iisc ( but yes for iiser)

what is more important, board exam marks or aptitude test performence?

For the students applying via the board marks...............will the aptitude test and the counselling be held on the same date.........or will the counselling be held some days later? Please tell me!!!!!

You can get into IISER by appearing in the following exams..
1)Through KVPY :- 125 seats
2)Through IIT-JEE merit list or extended merit list :-125 seats
