You should focus on higher studies only. Because you have not completed your 10th Board exams. 10th & 12th exams is very important for any competitive exams and if you have not cleared 10th exam then you should give full time on your study only and after passing of HSC exams you should choose any subject from Science, Commerce or Arts for higher studies. IAS & IPS post are filled by UPSC entrance exams and educational criteria for UPSC entrance exams is to have Graduate degree in any streams.

It do not matters either you are from Science streams or From Commerce streams, Because question pattern is different for different class of students and questions will only be asked from your syllabus only.
There will two phase of entrance exams means Preliminary exams & Personal Interview.

1- Preliminary Exam - In the preliminary exam, you will have to write two papers.

A- General studies
B- Optional Paper

2- Personal Interview -
Once you clear this exam you will be called for Personal interview and selection will only be decided after interview.

IAS or IPS post will be given only on their merit and performance in both Written test Plus Personal Interview.

So, at the moment you just focus on your studies and try to achieve maximum marks as you can.

Thumbs up Re: Which group I should opt after completion of 10th standard to apply for IAS or IPS?

There are no particular branch or groups to take up after your 10th class, depends on your own interest you can opt for of the courses of study after your 10th class

IAS and IPS are one of the prestigious civil services which are conducted by the UPSC board and you can opt for this course after your graduation course. This examination is generally conducted every year once and it is all India wide examination.

Required Eligibility for IPS:
  • Should have attained 21 years and not exceed 30 years and age relaxations are applicable as per the government specifications.
  • Should have done graduation or bachelor degree from any of the respective college of study recognized by the government of India.
  • Should belong to the citizen of India only

These are the main required eligibility to appear for the IPS selections.

After your 10th class you can apply for the Intermediate course in any of the respective disciplines and then after that apply for the Graduation or bachelor degree in any of the discipline of your own interest.

You should choose arts subject or history, geography subjects because it will be helpful in preparing for IAS and IPS after passing 12th class. One more thing go for B.A course in graduation (Bachelor in Arts) because in BA you do not need to give more time on your graduation hence you got more time to prepare for IAS and IPS.

You can select any stream in 10+2 and bachelor's degree for Civil Services examination.

A candidate must select any stream with his/her own interest and potential. Candidates from all streams of bachelor's degree are eligible to apply for Civil Services exam.

If you have interest in science then you can science stream with mathematics or biology as per your wish. While choosing stream in bachelor's degree, keep in mind you interest for optional subject in Civil services exam mains stage.

I.A.S or I.P.S comes under Civil Services examination and candidates have to appear and qualify in for final selection.

The recruitment is done only after qualifying in examination, but you can select any course to appear for examination.

So, you can pursue any course in 10th ,10+2 and graduation to appear for examination.
