How can become a commercial pilot after BE in electronic and communication engineering with diploma background? Why it is necessary 2 have 2 to become a commercial pilot?

I'm presently in TE in the branch of Electronics and Telecommunication engg.I'm willing to know about the average GATE's score(if GATE score is required) necessary for its entrance?
And if GATE isnt required whats the other exam ?
