If you wish to become Superintendent of Police then you have to apply for UPSC Civil Services Exam.
The candidate who wishes to join police force as a Superintendent of Police has to first appear for the UPSC Civil Services Exam to get selected as an IPS officer. After completion of training as IPS officer, a candidate is appointed as an Assistant Commissioner of Police or Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) in a sub division comprising of three-four police stations. After that on the basis of experience and track record, one gets promoted to the rank of Superintendent of Police (SP) of a district . The eligibility criteria for the Civil Services Exam are as under :- -The candidate must be an Indian . -The candidate should have completed graduation degree in any discipline from a recognized university. The candidate who are pursuing final year of their degree course can also apply for the exam. -The candidate age should be in between 21 years to 30 years. There is relaxation in upper age limit for OBC candidate by 3 years, 5 years for SC/ST candidates and 10 years for PWD. -The selection procedure consists of three stages, namely; * Preliminary Examination (Objective Type), * Mains Examination (Conventional Type), * Personal Interview & Group Discussion. |
