Re: How can I write IAS exam after studying BSc biotechnology 2nd year
I.A.S is the acronym for Indian Administrative Services. Let me tell you that there is no such I.A.S exam. Union Public Service Commission conducts Civil services exam for the different services like:
>>Indian Administrative Services. >>Indian Police Services. >>Indian Revenue services etc. In order to become eligible for Civil services exam, you need to meet the following requirements: 1. The minimum academic qualification required for appearing in Civil Services exam is graduation from any recognized university of India. Final year candidates of bachelor's degree are also eligible. As you are in second year of B.SC, you are not eligible as per rules and regulations of UPSC. You will have to wait for two more years in order to become eligible. 2. Age criteria: 21-30 years for general category candidates with three years and five years age relaxation in upper age limit to OBC and SC/ST candidates. Examination Pattern: Stage I : Preliminary Exam- It is of qualifying nature. You need to qualify this stage to become eligible for next one. Stage II: Mains Exams Stage III: Personal Interview. Rank is decided on the basis of performance in Mains and interview. Preparation Tips: Since you are in second year, you have ample time to prepare for the exam. It is one of the toughest entrance exams of India. Lakhs of candidates appear for 800-1000 posts. So, it needs consistent hard labour along with strong determination, dedication towards your goal. >>You can start reading the basics right from now. Go for the NCERT books of social studies and science from class sixth to 12th. >>Make a habit of reading newspaper, prefer 'The Hindu'. >>Solve Aptitude problems, work on English Grammar etc. |

As mentioned, currently you are in 2nd year, so you can take the IAS exam next year onwards. The age limit is 21 to 30 years for general candidates. There is a relaxation of 3 years for OBC and 5 years for SC/ST. The exam consists of Pre, Mains and Interview. The Pre comprises of CSAT (aptitude) and GS (general studies.) If you qualify the pre, you will be writing the mains exam i.e. subjective paper where you have to take one optional subject of your choice. The mains comprises of GS papers, Essay, Ethics and Optional subject's paper. Then there is a personal interview for the selected candidates. |
