How to join Commando Training Course? Eligibility criteria for the course?

You have 3 options available. You need to join any of the three forces of the country. For that you must first complete your graduation and appear the CDSE exam. Another option is through the SSC. You can also join the army by joining NDA. You need to prove that you have the talent and passion to go in for it.

*Age limit : Must have completed 18 years
(Eighteen) of age and must not have
completed 22 years (Twenty Two) of
age as on 01.01.2009. No relaxation in
age will be allowed for any special
category.
*Educational Qualifications: Pass in S.S.L.C or Equivalent. No
relaxation in qualification will be
allowed for any special category.
* Physical Qualifications:
(a) 1) Height - 167 cm.
2) Chest - 81 cms with a maximum expansion of 5 cm.
No relaxation will be allowed for any special
category.
(b) Eye Sight : Must be certified to possess visual standards
specified below without glasses.

Note: (1) Each eye must have full field of vision.
(2) Colour blindness, squint or any morbid condition of the eyes
or lids of either eyes shall be a disqualification.
(c) Must be free from apparent physical defects like knock knee, flat
foot, varicose veins, bow legs, deformed limbs, irregular & protruding
teeth, defective speech and hearing.
(d) At the time of Physical Efficiency Test, the Candidates should
produce Medical Certificates (in original) in the forms prescribed, here
under certifying to their physical fitness and eyesight. The Medical
Certificates (Physical Fitness) should be one obtained from a Medical
Officer under the Government not below the rank of an Assistant
Surgeon and that of Eye sight from an Ophthalmologist not below the
rank of an Assistant Surgeon under the Government.

If you meet the eligibility requirements, and you still want to proceed with the application, our Careers Advisors will book an appointment for you at your local Armed Forces Careers Office (AFCO).
Armed Forces Careers Office visit

Visiting an AFCO will give you the opportunity to informally talk with serving Royal Marines about life in the Corps, and what is required of you for the remainder of the application process.

The AFCO will also facilitate the next stages in your application. This includes the following:
Aptitude test

The short test is designed to find out your skills with language, numbers, reasoning and mechanical comprehension.
Interview and medical check

We will interview you to find out more about why you want to join. Then give you a medical check to make sure that you are in good health.
Pre-joining fitness test

In order to ensure that RM candidates are able to complete the three mile run they will undertake the PJFT.This will consist of 2 x 2.4km runs;the first run to be completed within 12m 30s, the second run, to be best effort, but within 10m 30s, with a minute rest in between the two runs. The runs are to be conducted on a 2 degree inclination on the running machine.
The Potential Royal Marines Course (PRMC)

You need to be fit, strong and determined to become a Royal Marines Commando. These are the qualities we are looking for on the Potential Royal Marines Course. The course lasts three days, during which time we will test you in the gym; on the assault course; on a three-mile run; and in the classroom. There will also be an interview so that we can find out more about you and why you want to join. You will also meet some recruits who are going through their training to find out what it is really like.

At the end of day three, we will let you know whether we think you have what it takes to be trained as a Royal Marines Commando.
Getting fit

Preparation is important if you want to do well at the PRMC. Regularly playing team sports like football or rugby is a good start. You should also go running, swimming or cycling.

If you cannot swim, or you are a weak swimmer, try to get help from your local pool before the selection course. You should also do exercises like press-ups, pull-ups and sit-ups to build your upper body and stomach strength. However, it is important that you do not train so hard that you injure yourself before coming to Lympstone.

Before you get started with your application, take a moment to check that you will be eligible to join the Royal Navy.

The Armed Forces value every individual’s unique contribution irrespective of their race, ethnic origin, gender, social background or sexual orientation. Your application will be rejected if you are, or have been, a member, supporter or associated with any group or organisation whose purpose includes incitement to racial hatred and violence.

You must be aware that, should you be accepted for enlistment, you may be required to serve anywhere in the world.

Nationality

British, Irish and Commonwealth citizens may join the Royal Navy or Royal Marines. However, certain career paths are only available to British citizens. See the link below for details.

Nationality Requirements for Career Options

Note:
1. A waiver of the above requirements may be granted by the Secretary of State for Defence for candidates who are British citizens at the time of application regardless of place of birth or former nationality
2. In exceptional circumstances a waiver of these requirements may be granted by the Secretary of State for Defence to persons who are Commonwealth citizens or citizens of the Irish Republic at the time of their application regardless of place of birth or former nationality. Any person who seeks such a dispensation will have their case considered on its individual merits
3. Only candidates holding British Nationality are eligible for the Submarine Service. No nationality waivers will be considered
4. These waivers will only be considered for thoses applying to enter service as a Royal Marine Commando or Royal Navy Surface Fleet

In addition, whether or not you are of UK origin, you should normally have resided in the UK for a minimum of three years immediately prior to making an application. In certain circumstances, particularly when an applicant is of UK origin, or the country of residence is one where security checks can be carried out, a shorter period of residence may be accepted.
Gender

The vast majority of trades are open to both men and women, although a small number of areas are currently not available to women, e.g. Royal Marines, the Submarine Service and Mine Clearance Diving.
Age

To apply to the Royal Navy you must be no younger than 15 years, 9 months. On entry you must be no younger than 16 (17 for Officers) and no older than 36 (up to and including your 37th birthday). The maximum age for Officer entry varies according to specialisation.

Please Note: if you are under 18, the consent of your parents or guardians is required. This will be asked for at the application stage.
Height

Height requirements vary for each of the Services. To be an Aircraft Handler you must be no shorter than 166cm and for other branches you must be no shorter than 151.5cm.
Qualifications

For many jobs there are no formal entry qualifications. If you have GCSEs (or equivalent) the range of opportunities is wider still. You will need 180 UCAS points and 5 GCSEs (A*-C) or Scottish Standard grades or equivalent, which must include English and maths to apply to become an Officer. For direct graduate entry as an Officer you will need a degree or equivalent, 180 UCAS points and 5 GCSEs (A*-C) or Scottish Standard grades or equivalent which must include English and maths. If you are still unsure about whether you meet the minimum qualifications, contact your local Armed Forces Careers Office. See individual job descriptions for details.
Criminal Record
o If you are awaiting a court appearance, in any other capacity other than as a witness, you may not be eligible to apply until the outcome of the hearing is known. Please check with your Armed Forces Careers Office
o Spent and unspent convictions (including prison, young offenders institution or probation) for certain types of offence may mean that you are ineligible to apply for entry into certain branches or trades within the Armed Forces. If you have any doubts about which branches or trades fall into the above categories, please seek advice
o Ex-Servicemen or Servicewomen discharged for disciplinary reasons will be ineligible to re-enter
Health
o If you are a habitual user of illegal substances, you will not be eligible to apply. Random compulsory drugs testing is practised in the Armed Forces
o The Armed Forces require anyone who joins to be medically fit to serve worldwide. New entrants to the Armed Forces undergo intensive training which is physically demanding and mentally taxing. New entrants must be of a robust constitution and free from disease or pre-existing injury to meet this challenge. If you do decide to apply and your application is accepted, you will be required to pass a full medical examination. Your application will be rejected if you fail to meet the minimum acceptable medical standard for entry. Before a Medical Officer examines you, you are asked to declare certain information about your medical history to identify obvious medical conditions for which rejection is automatic. Please note that your application will be rejected if:
+ You suffer from Epilepsy
+ You suffer from Diabetes
+ You suffer or have suffered from Asthma in the past four years
+ You suffer from Colitis, Crohns Disease, or any other long standing bowel disorder or have had your spleen removed
+ You have ever had a detached retina or corneal transplant
+ You suffer from Rheumatoid Arthritis, or any other bone or joint disorders

The above list is not exhaustive and you may find that your application is rejected due to other medical conditions, not listed, but which are subject to the discretion of the examining doctor or Service Medical Authorities.

Its nice to hear that you are inetrested in Commando Training. That show how patriotic you are. There is a institution well known for its traning named Royal Marines.

The Royal Marines training is 32 weeks long and is the longest basic infantry training programme of any NATO combat troops.

As well as extreme physical fitness and advanced infantry skills you need to have mental strength and depth of character.

The 32 week course is split into six sections; Foundation, Individual Skills, Advanced Skills, Operations of War, Command Course, King’s Squad Pass Out Week.

Foundation – This lasts for three weeks and is the transition period from civilian to military recruit. It includes administration, gym and swimming assessments, maths and English tests, drill, physical training, close quarter combat, weapons training and an overnight exercise in the field.
Individual Skills – This lasts for seven weeks and covers weapon training, physical training, swimming, drill, Corps history, weapon training, map reading, first aid.
