Nice to see that you are interested to Join Indian Air force and after completing graduation you can apply for these two entries namely,

=> Combined Defence Academy examination
=> Air force common admission test

CDS Examination is conducted by UPSC, two times in a year. You can apply for this examination just after completing your Graduation.

You have to complete your Graduation from a recognized university and must have study Maths and physics as a compulsory subjects in your Intermediate examination only then you are eligible to apply for Air force academy examination.

Your age should between 19 to 23 years to apply for IAF.

If you have scored more than 60% marks in your Graduation then you can apply for AFCAT Examination and Join:

=> Flying Branch
=> Technical Branch
=> Ground Duty Branch

For Flying Branch your age should between 19 to 23 years and must completed graduation from a recognized board with minimum 60% marks.

As you are pursing B.Sc., so after Graduation you can join Indian Air Force basically through two ways:-

-Combined Defence Service - CDS
-Air Force Common Admission Test - AFCAT

CDS entrance exam conducted twice every year by UPSC for entry in to Indian Military Academy, Naval Academy, Air Force Academy and Officer's Training Academy.

To be eligible for Indian Air Force Academy of CDS, one must be an unmarried indian male candidate having either appear for the final Graduation Degree exam or pass with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as subject of studies within the age of 19 to 23 years with good Physical and mental Fitness.

AFCAT exam is conducted by Indian Air Force every year for entry in to Flying Branch, Technical Branch and Ground Duty Branch.

The eligible candidate must be an unmarried Indian male having completed Graduation in any stream with 60% marks from a recognised University within the age of 19 to 23 years for Flying Branch, within 18 to 28 years for Technical Branch and within 20 to 23 years for Ground Duty Branch.

For both CDS and AFCAT, the selection is through written exam followed by personal interview along with Physical Fitness and Medical Test.

Hello friend, A graduation competed candidate have two choices to enter into Defence sectors i.e CDS and AFCAT. So you have two choices the complete details are given below.


CDS(Combined Defence Service) eligibility criteria:-

The candidate should be complete graduation from a recognised university, and also a final year persuing candidate can also be eligible.

The candidate should be a citizen of india or subject of bhutan or a subject of nepal or a tibetian refugee who came over india permanently.

Candidate must be physically fit.


The age limits is 19 years to 23years, and no upper age relaxation.

You want to join INDIAN AIR FORCE (IAF), which is appreciable.

There are two examinations called CDS & AFCAT Examination,.. CDS stands for the COMBINED DEFENCE SERVICES & AFCAT stands for AIR FORCE COMMON ADMISSION TEST ,. CDS examination is conducted by the UNION PUBLIC SERVICE COMMISSION (UPSC).

The educational requirement for this examination is graduation degree with Physics & Maths(B.tech/b.sc.) from recognized college.
You must have scored at least 60% in graduation.

Through this CDS examination ,one can apply for the INDIAN AIR FORCE, NAVAL ACADEMY, INDIAN MILITARY ACADEMY (IMA).

The age limit for the IAF is 19-23 years.There is NO Upper age relaxation.

Yes, you can join IAF. Age should be between 19-23 Years and aspiring candidates has to be Graduates (Three Year Course) in any discipline and have Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 level OR BE / B Tech (Four Year Course) and should scored Minimum 60% in all papers put together.
