I am s.suresh . I have completed my matriculation under 10th class scheme in 2009. Due to financial problems I have discontinued my studies. Now I am working in a small scale industry as a daily wage worker. Now I am interested to join indian army as a soldier.
Could you please suggest me the way to join indian army as a soldier. Now Iam 17, and after I have become 18, Iam ready to join any defence service. Could you please suggest me for which job am I eligible.

HELLO,yes you will be eligible after completing your 18 for indian army.for join the defence you should check the "employment news" regularly.indian army publish bulletins on requirement in army,you should check daily news papers.apply for the soldier post nearby your army regiment/headquarters.after that there will be selection on the basis of physical & mental ability.qualify the tests and join the army.

You need to be above 18 as to join in the Indian Army. The UPSE will notify the recruitment process in the official websites and also in different newspapers. You need to qualify in the written test and also the physical test as to get selected in the Army. Please visit the official website for more information.

Yes,of course your eligible in Indian Army for posts of Jawan/Soldier.

The notifications are published in the weekly journal Employment news.The recruitment is done state wise or zonal wise.You even need to be physically fit to enter into the Indian Army.

--you should be 12th pass....ie. should be at-least 17yrs old.....
--so try for it when you cross 17th or your 12th standard board exams....

1)join it as an sipahi after completing your 10th.
2) write the NDA exam after 12th and can become an officer .
3) write the CDS exam after completing your diploma or degree.

--Physical Standards : The applicant should fulfill the following physical standards -

Height should be 167 cms.

Weight should be 50 kgs.
Chest should be 77/82 cm.
The general health should be free from all the communicable, infectious disease, medical or surgical deformities.

Eligibility for Indian Army :-

1) 10+2 (Through NDA)

You have to take an entry level exam conducted by Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) to join NDA (National Defence Academy).
Eligibility for UPSC exam :-
a) Sex :- Male.

The UPSC (NDA) exam is conducted twice a year (April and October)in all major cities throughout India.

Each year course start twice January and July.

After passing 10th you can join Indian Army as a solider.
Fried date of recruitment is different in different places.

So you can contact Army Recruitment Board in you district they will tell you the procedure to join Indian Army.

If you wish to join the Indian Army, then you have 3 options by which you can do so.


1. NDA - National Defense Academy

This is exam which is conducted by the UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) every year to select candidates who have just given their 12th boards, or by NDA 2 for the candidates who have got their 12th board results.

Minimum criteria for this is, you should be a 12th pass from a recognized university and the Age Limit for this varies from 16.5 to 19 years.


2. CDS - Combined Defense Service

This is an exam which is again conducted by the UPSC to select Class 1 officers every year in the Indian Army, Navy or Air Force. Its conducted twice every year in February and September.

Minimum criteria for this is you should be a graduate in any stream from a recognized college or University and the Age Limit in this varies between 19 to 24 years.


3. UES - University Entry Scheme

This is a scheme to give direct entry to the candidates in the wings of the Indian defense right from their University like a Campus Placement.

The minimum qualifications needed for this is you should be a graduate from a recognized college or University. Final year students may apply.

Age Limit varies from 18 to 25 years.



Thus you may join the Indian Army by any of the three options.

*then you will be getting the date for the written test and for the events like running 800 metres and 100 metres,long jump and high jumps,etc..
*you have to pass all the events or atleast 80% in all the events..
