Re: How to prepare for IAS entrance exam?
Hello friend,
Since you need to qualify the Preliminary exam first of all, you must not bother about the Main Examination right now. The Preliminary exam has been replaced by Civil Service Aptitude Test (CSAT) from this year onward. Here I am providing you with the CSAT syllabus which is going to be conducted the very first time. The CSAT will have two compulsory papers carrying 200 marks each. Paper 1 Current events of national and international importance History of India and Indian national movement Indian and World Geography- physical, social, economic geography of India and the world Indian Polity and governance – constitution, political system, panchayati raj, public policy, Rights issues, etc. Economic and social development – sustainable development, poverty, inclusion, demographics, social sector initiatives etc. General issues on environmental ecology, bio-diversity and climate change General science. Paper 2 Comprehension Interpersonal skills including communication skills Logical reasoning and analytical ability Decision making and problem solving General mental ability Basic numeracy (numbers and their relations, orders of magnitude etc. (Class X level), Data interpretation (charts, graphs, tables, data sufficiency etc. –Class X level) English language comprehension skills (Class X level) |

Re: How to prepare for IAS entrance exam?
Each and every personnel will have their own style of preparation...
so you should follow your own style.. I can only just suggest you some tips how to prepare.. ->first strongly determine that you're going to get a rank in the coming exam ->do research on syllabus pattern and paper pattern ->sit for preparation before 6 months (If you're average student like me) or else 3 months is sufficient. ->make your preparation plan in to three parts ->part 1 total syllabus ->part 2 revision of total syllabus ->part 3 practice tests of three parts.. ->finally attempt your exams with confidence thats all if your are perfect in planning and implementation you will get a good rank according to your desire. best regards ~aditya~ |

Re: How to prepare for IAS entrance exam?
Read newspaper regularly and thoroughly. prepare notes on it, segregating your notes under different headings like:
polity, economics, national, international, sports etc. this practice will definitely help you to prepare for your general studies. this is only a part of your preparation. other important tips 1. Be very particular about the subject you choose for prelims, as you will be appearing for an objective type of paper. History, maths, geography may prove to be very scoring. Choose subjects which have availability of books, reading material and guidance. In recent years engineering subjects like civil and electrical can be chosen, giving BEs and IITians an edge (yes! even here they are giving the BAs and BScs a tough fight!) 2. G.K. will definitely pay in your prelims. Reading newspapers, watching TV news and of course quiz shows like KBC is a must. 3. If you have been lucky enough to reach the interview stage book knowledge may not be the only thing you need. Your mental alertness will count as they ask you questions like “How many steps did you walk up to reach here?” or “ What is the colour of the wall behind you ?” - So be prepared. 4. Enhance your personality because it will definitely be one of the criteria for selection. For IPS physical wellbeing is of great importance, you should be medically fit. 5. Improve your communication skills. IFS aspirants must be proficient in at least one foreign language. So go ahead, have your say in this political mess of our country and try to make it a better place. |

Re: How to prepare for IAS entrance exam?
If you want to become an IAS officer then you have to appear in Civil service entrance exam conducted by UPSC every year.
Selection procedure of IAS: 1. CSAT (Civil Services Aptitude Test) if you clear this than you would get a call for 2. Main Examination and if you qualify this stage then 3. you have to undergo Interview. You must satisfy following criteria: Age: Must be in between 21 to 30 year not more than this. Educational Qualification: Must have at least graduation degree. For IAS examination you have to prepare: - Current affair - General knowledge - Aptitude - History , Geography and other basic topics. If you have keen desire to qualify IAS exam then make a time schedule of your study. If you want to clear this in your first attempt than give you 100% toward preparation and it need six months of full dedication. All the Best... |

Re: How to prepare for IAS entrance exam?
Dear,
For the preparation of the IAS exam , General awareness is must. Your general awareness will only be strong if you have the habit of reading the newspapers. You must also subscribe for various other competitive books which are about the current affairs. You also prepare the history and civics part . ICSE books are always good for it as they have a detailed syllabus. I have also attached a few papers . Download it from here. Thanks. |
