IAS and KAS are the entrance exams for jobs in top civil services . Actually there is no entrance exam called IAS this is the entrance exam with the name Civil Service examination conducted by UPSC if you clear this you will placed in cadres called IAS/IPS/IFS etc..,

IAS is top most job when compared to KAS as this KAS is the state service whereas IAS is the All India service.
KAS is limited to Karnataka state only

KAS is easy to crack than IAS anyways
Preparation for these exams is a bit tough as every one say. but if you are really interested in it and want a good position in society you will strive hard to get it.

Some preparation tips for this exam are.
->Be confident
->Know the pattern and syllabus clearly
->Do hard work with smart plans
->Obtain a unique plan and follow it sincerely
->Practice as much as possible
->Participate in mock exams and interview
->assess yourself in different areas.
->Listen to good words which motivates you
->Relax and keep your body fit
->Do some physical and mental excercises
->Do some active planning work every day
