How to prepare for UPSC entrance exams?

Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) is a constitutional body of India which conducts various entrance exams for the recruitment of eligible candidates to several posts in different departments. The commission conducts each exam every year in various centres spread across the country to enable all the interested ones from various parts to attend the test. The exam is highly competitive since millions of candidates from different parts are attending the exam each year. And hence only well prepared candidates can clear all the stages of the test.

UPSC Entrance Exams Pattern

Generally, there will be 3 stages for the UPSC exams. First a preliminary exam will be conducted for the screening of candidates. Those who clear the preliminary exam will be called up for the main entrance exam. There will also be screening in this level. Those who score above the cut off mark will be qualified for the next stage. The next stage is an interview session with the official recruiting panel. This stage will basically be a personality test round. But depending on the department and post, there may be a technical interview section in addition to the personal interview.

General guidelines for preparing for UPSC Entrance Exams

The candidate should have a strong target in mind of getting through the exam. One should practice each day according to the well planned time table. Important formulas and notes have to be taken in a separate paper so that the candidate can refer it easily before getting into the exam hall. The candidate should understand ones weak and strong areas and prepare accordingly.

Set up a full proof study Plan

The aspirants should set up a proper study plan and follow it systematically for getting through the highly competitive UPSC exam. One should have a thorough knowledge about the syllabus and pattern of the exam. Each and every topic has to be covered before 1 week of the exam. The last week has to be utilized for revision of all the studied topics.

    hi,
    Suggest me the best KAS coaching center for the evening classes since I work as a Software Engineer for DELL. I am yet to join the coaching classes since my shift schedule starts from the mid of Dec, will that amount of time be enough for me to prepare for the exams starting from Dec mid? I do have a lot of queries regarding this since I am aspiring for the same.
    May i know the last date to submit the application form for the KAS exams and more details about this? And how many attempts do the 3A category applicants get for preliminary and main exams both.
