Question 1 : I am a student of Mechanical Engineering (3rd year,Kalyani Govt. Engg. college).I want to build up my career in a field related to Space research or some engineering jobs involved in the field of Space and Astronomy.How should I proceed and what are the scopes in front of me?

You should join ISRO by giving entrance exam and after this exam if you selected then work

hard in your field and after few training there is exam of astronouts.

BASIC REQUIREMENT FOR ASTRONAUT CANDIDATE PROGRAMME IN NASA


1.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT

HEIGHT - 62-72 inches

BP - 140/90

EYE SIGHT - 20/20 vision (corrective eye surgeries e.g lasik allowed)

2. QUALIFICATION

BACHELOR'S DEGREE IN ENGINEERING
BIOLOGICAL SCIENCE
PHYSICAL SCIENCE
COMPUTER SCIENCE
OR
MATHEMATICS


3.EXPERIENCE
- 3 YEARS EXPERIENCE OF RELEVANT PROFESSION
OR
1000 hours of pilot-in-command in jet aircraft.

4.A candidate has to be US citizen.

final selection is based on completeing the training including space stationsystems,robotics skills training learning russian and air craft fight readiness.

NASA takes specialists from different disciplines like in mathematics,engineering,computer science etc.

candidate needs to be specialise at master's level and then do a PHD followed by at least three years of related

NASA also has a career intern programme to recruit and attract exceptional individuals in to a variety of entry level occupations

participants in the this 2 years programme gain valuable on the job experience as well as formal classroom training.
