Your Queries regarding the NET & SET exam is as under one by one-
1. When are these exams conducted? These Exams are conducted Twice in a Year i.e in the month of June & December. 2. How?What is the syllabus for the exam? The Paper is from the Post Graduation syllabus. There are Three types of Paper. The Paper-1 and paper-2 are the objective type & the paper-3 is a subjective one.You can download the syllabus of your subject from the website as under- http://www.ugc.ac.in/inside/syllabus.html 3. What's the marking system and ranking system for this exam? There is no negative marking. For more details visit to- http://www.contentcarry.com/ugc-net-exam-2011-question-paper-pattern-net-minimum-qualifying-marks/3710 4. How many times this exam can appeared? You can appear as many times as you can for the Lecturership but For the JRF the maximum age limit is 28 years(relaxable for sc/st) |

Re: How to study for NET/SET exam? Which stream is eligible for this exam? Syllabus of the exam and date of the exam?
Well first you should know that National Eligibility Test is conducted for JRF and College Lectureship. The State Eligibility Test is conducted for same reason but by each state separately where NET is the national level entrance exam.
To appear for the National Eligibility Test you should have post graduation degree. It does not matter whether your post graduation degree is related to Arts, Commerce or Science. You can still apply for the National Eligibility Test. National Eligibility Test is held in the months of June and December. While the State Eligibility Test depends of each state. Some states conduct this exam twice like Maharashtra while others like Gujarat conducts the exam only once. Each state conducts its exam on different date. The course and subject for the National Eligibility Test will depend on the post graduation course that you have completed. For example if you have completed Master of Commerce then you will appear for the Commerce subject and the course will be related to Commerce. You can get more information related to it on - http://ugcnetonline.in/ NET Eligibility 1. Candidate is required to complete a post graduation course. 2. He/She should score 55 percent marks in that course. 3. SC/ST candidate must score 50 percent marks. 4. There is no relaxation for OBC given by UGC. 5. It is not necessary to have completed PG to appear for exam. You can also do that during final year of post graduation. 6. But in such case you should submit degree in 2 years timeframe. 7. Subject for NET as mentioned earlier will depend on PG Course. 8. If you are applying for JRF then better do it before turning 28 years. 9. OBC should apply before 31 years. 10. While the age limit for SC/ST is 33 years. 11. But in case of College Lectureship, there is no upper age limit. 12. As far as number of attempts are concerned, there is no limit. |
