Re: Information about IAS eligibility criteria?
The Indian Administrative Service officer is to implement government policies. He/She has to consistently visit places where policies are being implemented to ensure smooth work.
Apart from that during the natural disaster like floods, earthquake and tsunami, IAS officer plays important role in providing critical input to the government to take necessary steps. Coming to your question, it is commonly mistaken that IAS needs physical criteria. Which is not the case. The physical criteria is part of Indian Police Service and Indian Forest Service but not for Indian Administrative Service. It has to do with nature of work. In fact handicapped candidates can apply for the Indian Administrative Service which is not the case for IPS or IFS. You will find that there are some seats reserved for the person with disability in the Indian Administrative Service. Therefore the bottom line is that you don't need to worry about physical criteria to apply for IAS. Simply start preparing for the exam and fill the forms for Civil Services Examination when they are made available next year. It won't be possible to appear for the exam in this year. IAS Eligibility 1. Nationality should be Indian of the candidate. 2. Bachelor degree course is accepted as qualifying degree. 3. There is no percentage criteria for graduation. 4. You should be within the age group of 21 to 30 years to apply. 5. The age limit is 21 to 33 years for OBC. 6. Due to 5 years relaxation, upper age is extended to 35 for SC/ST. 7. There is no physical criteria for IAS. Selection Procedure You will have to appear for the Civil Services Examination for Indian Administrative Service. 1. Preliminary Exam 2. Main Exam 3. Personal Interview |

IAS Eligibility Criteria:- ## Only Indian Nationals can give this examination. For other civil services still nationals of other countries are allowed but not for this one. ## The main qualification required to give this examination is a graduate degree. You can obtain that degree in any discipline of your choice from a recognized university. ## If someone is in the final year of his/her degree course can apply for and appear in the Prelim Test. But on getting selected when you are going to sit for the Main Examination again then you need submit proof of the qualification. ## The minimum age limit is 21 years and maximum age limit is 30 years. ## There is relaxation for the following categories:- ~~SC/ST Candidates: 5 years ~~OBC Candidates: 3 years ~~PWD Candidates: 10 years ## Every candidate appearing for the civil service exam will be allowed to give this examination four times maximum. Candidates belonging to the OBC Category will get seven chances. This restriction however on the number of attempts is not applicable to the SC/ST candidates. ## The Civil Services Examination is conducted in 3 stages. They are as follows:- Stage I:- Preliminary Examination Stage II:- Main Examination Stage III:- Interview ## Preliminary Examination is like a screen test which helps in shortlisting candidates for Main Examination. If you get selected for the Main examination then to calculate the grand total selectors wont add the marks you got in preliminary exam. The final decision will be based on your performance in the Main Exam and Interview session. ## For the prelim exam there will be two papers loaded with objective questions. For each paper 200 marks have been allotted. You will get two hours for each paper. Blind candidates will get twenty minutes more each paper. Paper I - (200 marks)
Paper II - (200 marks)
Hope this helps :-> :-> |
