i am ganesh kumar i have completed bsc mathematics and i am willing to study msw but i dont know about that study what is the prospects of msw what are all the job oppurtunities,
In msw which category is most valuable can you tell me about that in detail pls

Hello,
There are various institutions that provide graduate as well as post graduate(MSW) courses in social works.The eligibility for MSW is graduate mostly but sociology or social sciences as the subjects in graduation is preferred.

After MSW there are scopes in hospitals,counselling can be an option,old age homes where there is a great need for care.There can be jobs in prisons too.
Nowadays there are number of NGOs that requires specialist in community welfare.Teaching field too can be an option.
After gaining some experience and with the MSW degree there could opporunities even abroad like in the well known international organisations WHO,UNICEF etc..

Some of the Institutions which offer courses in Social Work are as-:

Tata Institute of Social Sciences,Mumbai.

Jamia Millia Islamia,New Delhi.

Institute of Social Sciences,Agra.

Madras School of Social Work,Chennai.

University of Delhi,Delhi.

A master in social work is required for -
1. Case worker jobs-Specializations in this field include crisis center work, child and school case work, geriatric case work, and social program organization.
2. social worker jobs-They can work in hospitals, schools, assisted living centers, private homes, government agencies and non-profit agencies, but most are employed by health care related agencies.
As social work will generally chosen as some help to others so money is not an important one but still if you are a master in your field than you can get a good salary.Now a days this field is more demanding in abroad too.USC School of Social Work University of Southern California is one of the world's premier centers for graduate study in urban education

IGNOU offers MSW,,, its an open university available in all states of India
U can enquire frm the west bengal branch... i am sure it will b thr in Kolkata

you should have minimum 50% agree get in your under graduation.

two ways to get admission 1) under government quota (from government quota)
2) management quota( from college side ) .
