I want to know the civil engineering ( govt) job opportunities in India in 2017 for freshers. Is there any exam except GATE, through which we can get job in government sector?

Civil engineering has good scope in India. After completion of Civil Engineering from any recognized institute/university, you will get so many job opportunities in the market. Some of them are :

** MPPSC requires Assistant Engineer(Civil)
** DMRC requires Site Engineer
** Airports Authority of India requires Civil Engineer

To apply any of the above, you simply have to visit the official website and register your application. After that you have to follow-up the selection process which generally includes written test, group discussion and finally interview.

With civil you don't need to worry about jobs.
Civil engineering has nowadays become a boon for the students who want to work in government sector. The only thing you should be emphasizing on is the knowledge that you posses because for every exam you need to give a written test.

Because the competition is not that much huge but then it does not mean that it is negligible. In 2016 itself, more than 1000 vacancies of Civil engineers have come till now and many more to come for different posts and designations in different states.

So, put your heart and soul in your B.E course and complete it with that much sufficient knowledge which is required to clear various exams.

Also, one tip that i would like to give you is that, prepare those subjects more efficiently which usually come in your competitive exams. The best source for this is to check the syllabus of GATE exam for Civil branch because 90% of the various exam's syllabus is more or less inspired from gate. Some parts may differ but you will get an overall idea of the subjects you need to have a strong hold on.

There are different exams for AE/JE posts in different states. I cannot name them because every state does not conduct exam every year but some or the other state do conducts exam.

In civil engineering , Many PSUs recruit civil engineers through entrance exam GATE. There are also state level entrance exams conducted for state government jobs. State Electricity Boards & State Corporation Companies also conduct entrance exam to recruit civil engineers for their company.
