Re: Job opportunities for civil engineers in upcoming years?
Likewise Mechanical, Civil Engineering is also a ever green Engineering branch, with a promising career prospect in India and Gulf also.
Population is increasing as a result demand for Residance are also increasing. Similarly its negetive effect creating Deforestation as a result new branch of civil engineering & Architechture that is Enviromental Engineering is also increasing. Hundreds of Infrastrutural projects are going on while thausands are awaited for ther turn. Priviously, only Kolkata has metro facility, then come delhi's turn now, other metropolitian cities are also moving towards it. Roadways are getting much better from what it was 25 years before. Township, Residencialship, IT parks, Malls, Gardening, Railways, etc. all has created plethora of oppurtunities for Civil Engineers India. Being a Civil Engineer you can expect anything betweeen 15k-40k at starting level. Even IIT's have highest placement record of 1 lacs per month for a civil engineer, where as it has placement record in crores for other branches. I want to make you understand that Civil Engineering is a branch whose 1st priority is experiance and Analytical Bent of Mind. Weather you will be a B.Tech holder or M.Tech holder you will face little problem in the begining and also can not expect very good pay, because Civil Engineering takes time to take off from career point of view. Experiance is the most powerful tool for Civil Engineers for creating a benchmark in career prospect. Where as in Gulf, nothing to say it about as every body knows. In UAE Civil Engineers find starting salary of about SR 3,000-4,000 (SR= Riyals, almost equivalent to Rs.12 INR). So, there is nothing to worry about it, if you have decided to opt for Civil Engineering then just go for it. But just being an Engineer is not the only solution to any problem, you have to be best one if you want to explore your career in India. So, check out weather you have that Qualities to be a Civil Engineer. Qualities and Abilities required for being in Civil Engineering field. Analytical Bent of Mind..............! for planing and proposing. Great Drawing skills, as major work is sketch and building structure associated. Excellent Leadership Quality, because a large man force will work under your guidance. Ability to interact with clients. Mathematical Bent of Mind, as basically there is to subject to deal with Drawing and Mathematics specially Geometry and Calculation and Estimation. Regards ~Faiyaz~ |

Institute is not the matter, first think that matters is the course you want to study. There is no comparition between Civil and P & I. Both are having huge differance in all respect. Yes but if subject doesn't matters for you and you are ready to take any subject even then I will refer to Civil. Even after knowing that BIT, deogarh is slightly reputed then JECRC I will refer you to opt for Civil because Pipping has very limit scope as compared to Civil. |

opurtunities for the civil engineering will never end in this scenerio.don't worry about your future.
just think of becoming a good technical and skillfull civil engineer. if you are capable then no one in this world can stop you. opurtunities for this evergreen strem can never end . only you engineers are needed for making houses for people to live in , only you are needed for construction of roads for the people to cover distances , only you are needed for construction of dams for hydropower electric projects. your future can never end becoz these are the requirements of the daily life of the people which only a civil engineer can fulfill. |

Re: Job opportunities for civil engineers in upcoming years?
Dear Friend,
Like Mechanical,Electrical branch the CIVIL branch also a evergreen core branch.CIVIL engineering has always demand in engineering sector. As in IT sector there is continuing the recession the core branches have much more demand now a days. As the population is growing on & no.of houses, apartment, building are also increasing with respect to the population.so,in that case CIVIL engineers are much more desirable. Besides those,as the India is a ongoing upwards country,so there are so many construction,so many new complex,so many buildings are yet to be built,so the is always CIVIL engineers are desirable. I wanna say you that CIVIL engineers may not get the desired pay at the 1st time.It is totally depends how much you have creativity, reflection on your mind(Presence of mind),analytical ability etc... So according to me experience is most wanted for a CIVIL engineers. some Abilitiesyou should have that:: 1:Planing and Proposing skill means analytical thinking. 2:Good Drawing skills sketching, structure drawing etc.. 3:Good Leadership Quality 4:Behave & interaction with the clients. There are so many companies for CIVIL engineers in which you can apply:: 1.BHEL, 2.SAIL, 3.L & T, 4.NALCO, 5.NTPC, 6.Jindal etc... for the freshers job you can visit:::http://www.yuvajobs.com /search_result.asp?category=In+All+Categories& exp=0&keyword=Civil+Engineer Best of luck. |

Re: Job opportunities for civil engineers in upcoming years?
Quote:
In the succeeding generation, the civil engineering has also grown up in various aspects of career. In older days there were limited posts for the civil engineers. Happily, the technology growth increased the posts for civil engineers in the present day scenario. Ultimately, the opportunities for civil engineers across india as well as abroad are over overwhelmingly high. It is another story that for getting into the administration departments of big companies like L&T, DLF, Merlin Group,... additional degree like MBA is essential. Prevailing designations in the industry: * Sr. Surveyor * Jr. Surveyor * Planner * CAD Engineer * Execution Officer * Project Management Head * Dy Manager/ Manager - Procurement * Sr. Design Engineer * Jr. Design Engineer * Site Engineer * Site Manager * Constructor Present Scenario of Civil Engineers in Andhra pradesh: Govt. Sector: * Intake of new engineers for next 15 years is limited (as comp. to traffic from engg. colleges) * Salaries are very less as compared to pvt. sector companies.(25k-2L) * Limited new projects till 2013 as of now. * Few new roads and highways proposals are made for which the tenders are issued to pvt. companies. * Only maintainance jobs can be availed in most govt. Organisations Private Sector: * New companies are emerging out * Salaries from 25k to 5L (according to the designations) * Private sector is handling a sound no. of projects from time to time. * Opportunities can be availed but as a beginner, one has to face some challenges in his career in the beginning. The present conditions may disappoint the students a little but the fact that has to be reminded is that these conditions are not permanent. As days progress, as your career takes a beginning, new opportunities are definite to arise. Secondly, civil engineers always will have a good life. although there are some kick start problems, your roads are very smooth NOTE: B.Tech/M.Tech degree doesn't make much difference in Civil Engineer's career. The most essential part of a good progress is leadership quality, sincere hardwork, through analysis and skill management. So work hard and come up. Good Luck. Regards, MASK |

Re: Job opportunities for civil engineers in upcoming years?
Civil Engineering is a branch where you can never find a slag.
My bro is a civil engineer and as per our discussions we always have arguments but he proves he is in the best branch just bcz if you consider percentage of land on which houses are built up is 5% in whole world and also these 5% are reinnovated. And above all civil engineers are involved in infrastructure (land, bridge,....), so guess what you have huge job opportunities with handsome salaries. So guess what you will never find a slag, only opportunities |
