There are number of certificate and diploma courses which can be done within a period of 1 year. The certificate and diploma courses are usually not very expensive but few of them might be, depending upon the subject area as well as the institute offering the course.
The duration of diploma course could be between 1 years - 3 years whereas, a certificate course is of around 6 months duration.
Some of the diploma as well as certificate courses which you may pursue are:

Diploma in creative writing in English
Diploma in Management
Diploma in Tourism Studies
Certificate in food and nutrition
Certificate in Computing
Diploma in Computer Application
Certificate in Primary Education

Apart from these courses, there are many other course which you may pursue depending upon your interest.

Another good course for you would be Bachelor of Education (B.Ed). Unlike many of the above courses, this one can get you government job. All you need is 50 percent marks in graduation after which you can appear for B.Ed course. The duration of the course is 1 year and it will be well within your budget. Once you clear the course, please appear for the Teachers Eligibility Test (TET) by your state government and if passed you will get government teaching job with decent salary.


Out of the courses mentioned, Retail Management Programme has good scope in the coming years since government has approved FDI in Retail. This means that soon big retail chains like Walmart will come to India and flood our cities with their stores. These companies will require such candidates who can manage a Retail Store.
