Absolutely not. There is no mandatory subject for Indian Administrative Service exam. You can choose any subject during school and and stream during graduation. IAS exam only requires candidate to be graduate.

It does not dictate any specific stream or course that you are required to complete. Therefore without any fear continue with your studies with Maths subject and just complete graduation to apply for the Indian Administrative Service Exam.

When you will complete the graduation, fill the form for the IAS entrance exam that is released by the Union Public Service Commission.

IAS Eligibility

1. The candidate should be Indian citizen.

2. Candidate must have graduation degree in any discipline.

3. There is no percentage criteria.

4. The age limit is 21 to 30 years with relaxation in upper age limit.

1. OBC - three years relaxation.

2. SC/ST - five years relaxation.

Exam Pattern

1. Preliminary

2. Main Exam

3. Interview

Number of Attempts

1. General - four attempts.

2. OBC - seven attempts.

3. SC/ST - there is no limit.

Hi, One do not need necessarily had to opt Maths as an option in their mains exams. But for pre test one has to have Elementary knowledge of Maths as the second paper of pre test is CSAT, which is aptitude test and has maths questions.
Apart from this in Main exam in general studies second paper consists statics question for 40 marks . Statics is again a part of maths.

Therefore knowledge of elementary maths is require in UPSC exams

Mathematics is not necessary for the IAS, ie, civil service aptitude test. You can opt for any of your desired subject. But you should have some knowledge of the elementary mathematics as it is required for the prelims exam of the CSAT.

Mathematics subject is absolutely not necessary to become an IAS Officer. To become an IAS(Indian Administrative Service) officer one has to crack Civil Service Exam conducted by UPSC every year by taking optional subjects of one's choice from the prescribed list.

But Math fundamental knowledge is necessary to face aptitude test and objective math questions in Preliminary exam.

The eligible candidate aspiring for IAS Civil Service Exam must be an Indian National having either appear for the final Graduation Degree exam or pass in any stream from a recognised University within the age of 21 to 30 years with upper age relaxation for reserved candidate.
