there are many subjects from which you can make your choice, it is not important that you choose an subject which is only related to commerce, you should choose an subject which you feel really good at, also try to choose an subject which has some syllabus related to general studies,so that it will reduce the work load all the best |

Well you have completed BCA right and you want to study related subject for IAS studies.Its good to plan every thing before hand.There are lots of subjects which you can take for IAS exam but i don't think there is any subject particularly that you have to take for appearing IAS exam.Only the thing you require is good grades and take the subject which you are interested in. All the best. |

optional subject is suitable for IAS exam Preliminary examinations The prelims are held around May-June.It has objective ie multiple choice questions. There are two papers (duration of each being 2 hrs). a) General studies b) Optional subject The prelims are held around May-June.It has objective ie multiple choice questions. There are two papers (duration of each being 2 hrs). a) General studies and b)Optional subject: you can choose from Psychology, Sociology, Philosophy, Agriculture, Maths, Phy, Chem, Stats etc. Important: It is not compulsory to choose the same subjects of your graduation. The results are declared in July-August and the successful candidates are called for the main examinations. PS. The prelims score has no bearing for determining the final merit list for the services. 2. Main examination The main written examination usually takes place in Oct-Nov, it comprises of 9 papers in all (a lot more strenuous than CAT!) Duration of each paper is 3 hrs. Language: one of the Indian languages, English, Essay GK and Current Affairs: 2 papers on general studies Optionals: papers from two subjects that fall in optional-1 and two papers from optional-2 (a choice of subjects is listed by the UPSC in the prospectus) Candidates who are successful in the main examinations are eligible for an interview which plays a crucial part in the selection. I am Pharmacy Graduate and unable to find any subject related to pharmacy in IAS optional subject. kindly suggest what subject should I choose to clear the exam. If I'm not wrong, Medical Science is for MBBS students.

Although you are student of BCA, but it may happen that your strong subjects are those which are not related to BCA...
Remember, whatever background you have come from, it is not that you have to choose subjects from that background too. You can choose subjects in which you have good knowledge, no matter whether it is your course subject or. Be confident what you choose... You should those subjects in which you can score good marks. those subjects which you love to learn and have very much interest. as you are graduating from BCA .bue there are several subjects have to be choose. its totally depends upon you what you choose, be confident on what you choose.
You should those subjects in which you can score good marks. [B]those subjects which you love to learn and have very much interest. This exam is conducted by UPSC in once time in year. Those candidate are graduate from any recognized university with any discipline are eligible for IAS exam. But your age should be in between 22 to 30 years old.Age relaxation is provide for SC/ST/OBC category as per govt rule. The maximum attempts for SC/ST candidate is Unlimited. For OBC candidate it is 7 years and for general candidate it will be 5 years. Also you must be in citizen in India. Optional subjects for IAS main exam: Economics , Electrical Engineering,Geography, Geology ,History, Law,Management,Mathematics, Mechanical Engineering, Medical Science, Philosophy, Physics, Political Science and International Relations, Psychology, Public Administration, Sociology,Statistics, Zoology, Agriculture, Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science, Anthropology,Botany, Chemistry, Civil Engineering, Commerce and Accountancy. You can choose the subject in sense of your strength . The IAS selection process is consist in three way 1)Preliminary exam 2)Main exam 3)Inter View. Thanks |

Dear friend, you can choose any subject you want, there's a range of subject, but if you are thinking for computer science to select because that you've already read in BCA, then sorry, this subject doesn't come in the list. Otherwise you can go with any subject you want, there's no compulsion to select the background subject that you read or any other. Its completly your choice.
