Re: Maximum number of times that a candidate can appear for IAS Exam?
The number of attempts for IAS exams for GEN category is 4 and the for OBC and SC/ST category candidates is 7 and unlimited respectively. Once eligible, you will have to pass a 3 phase exam. First is the aptitude test. Second is the main exam including subjects from comprehensive English, mathematics, statistics, geography, history, psychology, etc. and then you will have to appear for a personal interview. This is the procedure to pursue IAS.

Quote:
As you have already experience with this examination I think it is not necessary tell you more about this anyways after completing 21 years of age with graduation one is eligible to write this examination. There is only limit times of attempts for General Candidates rather other Reserved category students can attempt how many times they wish Here is the complete details about the attempts of IAS Entrance actually it is called Civil Service examination. For General Candidates there is a limit of 4 attempts uptill their Max age limit or upper age limit that is till 30 years For OBC Candidates there is a limit of 7 attempts and they can enjoy 3 years of Upper age relaxation. For SC/ST Candidates : these candidates are known for their luck technically speaking they have no limit on their attempts. and also they can enjoy the upper age limit relaxation till 5 years i.e., upto 35 years till then they can apply any times they wish to appear. So if you are general candidate you will have 2 attempts remaining if you are a OBC candidate you will be left out with 5 attempts if you are sc/st candidate till your age knocks 35 you have those many attempts.
