Re: Is Mechanical Engineering and production engineering one and the same thing?
Production engineering and Mechanical Engineering are totally different. Production engineering is study of manufacturing technology with knowledge of management science. Production engineers are required to have knowledge of management problems related with production process.
On other hand, mechanical engineering is that stream of engineering which deals with mechanical systems, thermodynamics, kinetics, and energy. Mechanical engineers focus more on design and development of products. Main intention of production engineer is to make manufacturing more productive and resourceful. |
