CPT stands for the Common Proficiency Test. One who want to build their career as a Chartered Accountant have to crack this exam.

You have asked for the minimum marks required to appear CPT exam. But, you have not mentioned anything regarding your educational qualifications like what you have done or in which level you are studying right now.

Though, let me clarify your doubts. If you are applying through your intermediates i.e., 10+2 then there is no any percentages criteria or minimum marks criteria.

But, if you have completed your graduation from the commerce background and want to apply for it, then you should have secured at least 50% marks in your graduation.

However, candidates from Non-commerce backgrounds are also eligible for CPT. But, they must have secured at least 55% (Without Mathematics subject). And fot those who have studied with maths have to secure at least 60% marks.

ICAI (Institute of Chartered Accountants of India) conducts the CPT (Common Proficiency test) for those aspirants who wants to make his career bright in the accountancy field. Those who clear all the stages are eligible to become a Chartered Accountant (CA).

Chartered Accountancy course has three levels:

1. CPT or CA Entrance ( Common Proficiency Test )
2. CA Intermediate / IPCC
3. CA Final

As you have mentioned that you are interested in CPT exam, then for this you have to complete your Intermediate examination. Well, candidates can enroll for this test, just after passing 10th examination, but you can only appear for this test after completing your 12th examination.

There is no percentage required in your intermediate examination to register for CPT test.

CPT is the first stage of Chartered Accountancy course, this is an entrance to be eligible for the next stages.

~~ For Commerce Graduates/ Post Graduates: Need minimum 55 marks from recognized university to be directly eligible for Intermediate (Integrated Professional Competence) Course.

~~ For Non-Commerce Background Graduates/Post graduates: Need minimum 60% of the total marks in the examination conducted by recognized university.

If you are interested in this course, then you can register online from the official website of ICAI.

CPT means "Common Proficiency Test" and this test is of 200 marks.
Only objective question are there in the test paper of CPT having no negative marks.
In order to qualify the test, you will have to score a minimum of 50% marks. This doesn't means that you will have to score 50% marks in each sections, instead you will have to score 50% marks in aggregate. So, if you score 100 marks out of 200, you will be declared qualified.

The four section of the CPT entrance exam are as below:--->>

>> Fundamentals of Accounts section.

>> Mercantile Law section.

>> General Economics section

>> Quantitative Aptitude section.

The marks is distributed among four sections as follows:--->>

Fundamental of Accounting:60 Marks
Mercantile Law: 40 Marks
General Economics: 50 Marks
Quantitative Aptitude: 50 Marks
