No matter how much you score in the 12th, if you have qualified the examination, you are eligible to take the Common Proficiency Test. As far as registration is concerned, it can be even done after qualifying secondary level of examination but in order to take the test, qualifying 12th is mandatory though there is no percentage criteria for the same.

The test is conducted in the month of June and December every year and you may take the test in any of these month provided you have registered on or before the last date of registration prescribed by The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India.

DETAILS ABOUT CPT EXAM

*He or She Either passed or appeared in the Senior Secondary Examination ( 10+2 examination ) conducted by an examining body constituted by law in India or an examination recognized by the Central Government.

*As per a recent decision of the Council of the ICAI, candidates with certain higher qualifications are also eligible to appear in the CPT.

*Should have passed or already appeared in 12th class recognized examination.

*Passed Std. X examination or equivalent can join CPT after registration with the Board of Studies & can appear after appearance at Std. XII.


*Candidates, who have passed B.Com, M.Com, LLB, ICWA, CS or MBA at the first attempt, are also eligible to apply.


*The candidates, who have appeared or appearing in final year of the qualifying examination, are also eligible to apply.

*Should be registered for CPT course with Board of Studies of the Institute.
