IES is a very good career option. but it is a bit tough exam. IES is conducted by UPSC. any engineering graduate in Civil, Mechanical, Electronics and Electrical may apply for this exam. other branches do not have a provision for attending IES exam. your age limit should be in between 21 and 30 years. age relaxation is given on upper age limit. 3 years for OBC and 5 years for SC and ST. and to sit for IES exam you just need to pass Engineering and should be a graduate, there is no restriction on percentage of marks. so you can also apply for IES exam. prepare well to crack the exam. All the best |

IES is an exam conducted by Union Public Service Commission commonly called as UPSC. This exam is conducted twice a year. This exam is an entrance exam for joining in Technical Posts of Central Government. To appear in this exam you must fall under certain eligibility criteria list. They are as follows.
1. Your age must be above 21years and below 30years. The upper age limit is relaxed up to 5 years for candidates belonging to SC/ST category and 3years for candidates belonging to OBC category. 2. You must have completed your Engineering Graduation of any discipline from a recognized university. All engineering graduates are allowed for appearing in this exam. There is no any minimum passing percentage. Clearing the engineering graduation is enough. |

Re: Minimum percentage required in B.Tech, 10th and 12th to sit for IES?
IES DETAILS IES is Indian Engineering Service conducted by UPSC every year. There are four branches in IES: 1. Electrical 2. Mechanical 3. Civil 4. Eletronics and Communication You will get the syllabus of these branches here. Students who have completed their graduation in engineering are eligible to apply for IES. But students who have completed their M.Sc or equivalent with Wireless Communications, Electronics, Radio Physics or Radio Engineering as special subjects can also apply. Though only four streams are mentioned IES to apply, but students from other engineering streams like IT, CSE, EIE, etc can also apply for it. But the only condition is that they have to choose any of the above mentioned stream as their stream and the questions will also come from that stream and not fron their own engineering streams. So that is a challenge for those students to prepare the subjects of these four streams. Final year students of engineering, who are yet to give their final exams can also apply and those students who have given their final exam, but waiting for the result, can also apply for IES. The age limit for IES is 21 years to 30 years. But as per government rule, age relaxation is there for SC/ST/OBC/PWD candidates. The Application fee is Rs. 100/-. No fee for SC/ST/PWD candidates. Re: Minimum percentage required in B.Tech, 10th and 12th to sit for IES?
Indian Engineering Service entrance exam is conducted by the Union Public Service Commission. Engineering graduates are eligible to appear for this entrance exam therefore if you have completed Bachelor of Technology then you can apply for the Indian Engineering Service.
The marks you have scored in 10th standard, 12th standard or even in Bachelor of Technolgy does not matter. You just have to complete B.Tech from a recognized college. If you have done so then there is no issue. Indian Engineering Service is very popular among the Engineers. They prefer to appear for the IES entrance exam because the job offered is very reputed. IES officers are given various tasks in Public Sector Undertaking or other sectors that are related to economy such as infrastructure. You can apply for the Indian Engineering Service if you meet the following criteria. IES Eligibility 1. Citizen of India and Nepal can apply for IES. 2. Subject for Bhutan is also eligible for the exam. 3. Minimum qualification required is B.Tech. 4. For certain posts M.Sc. degree holders are also required. 5. There is no criteria for marks. 6. 21 to 30 years is the age limit for the exam. However the upper age limit is relaxed for various categories as per government rule. 1. 3 years for OBC. 2. 5 years for SC and ST. 3. 10 years for PWD. |

Re: Minimum percentage required in B.Tech, 10th and 12th to sit for IES?
IES has nothing to do with 10 and 12 performance all it takes in its criteria is a B tech degree from a recognized Indian university.
age limit is defined as 21 to 30. stay in touch of http://upsc.gov.in fpr all application form, admit card, result related updates for IES. IMPORTANT TO NOTE IS THAT YOU SHOULD PASS EACH SUBJECT IN B TECH THERE SHOULD NOT BE ANY BACK. |

Re: Minimum percentage required in B.Tech, 10th and 12th to sit for IES?
UPSC hasn't set any percentage limit for Engineering Services Examination. That means if you have just got the passing marks then also you will be eligible to apply for the examination without any worry.
Just make sure that you have completed Engineering Graduation from a recognized University. Engineering Services Exam recruits Engineers in following Services. -Civil Engineering Services -Mechanical Engineering Services -Electrical Engineering Services -Electronics Engineering Services So you have to study according the syllabus of above discipline in which you want to enter as an Engineering Officer. The selection is on merit and one has to get some very good marks in the examination conducted by UPSC. Age Limit: 21 - 30 years is the age limit for General category candidates but those who are from reserve category will get age relaxation. SC/ST : 5 years relaxation OBC : 3 years relaxation Selection Procedure: There will be written exam and interview for preparing the merit for selection. Those who get top marks in the written and interview will be selected for the respective engineering services. So be prepared for the examination if you want to get selected. |
