The minimum percentage required to get entry in a college is 50% without any backlog. But this percentage criteria will different from college to college. Like for the Government colleges the merit list will be settle and the students comes in merit list can join the institutions. And there are also some top ranked private colleges which ask for a good percentage, so you have to be a good percentage in your 12th to get a better admission.
You can also apply for the entrance exam for the top college. For Science stream you can appear for these exams:

4) Armed Forces Medical College exam
