I am a science student (biological group) from Nepal. My ultimate dream is to be a professional genetic engineer. I have completed my twelve class and I am waiting for the results. My teachers said that Genetic Engineering is a two years Masters level course. Is it Bachelor level course or Masters level ? If it is a Masters level course what should I study in Bachelor : biotechnology or microbiology ? If I studied Biotechnology should I study biotechnology with genetics or can I go for genetic engineering by studying Industrial/Agricultural/Medical biotechnology or Microbiology ? I am completely innocent. Please help me select right course and subjects in bachelor to study genetic engineering in future.

Yes it is a masters level course..you should go for biotechnology in the B-tech...M-tech in biotechnology offers you the specialization in genetic engineering..Genetics is offered as the undergraduate level at some of the colleges in Andhrapradesh..The colleges are:
1.Kakatiya University,warangal
2.Osmania University,Hyderabad

Since you have done 10+2 in biology group, it is unlikely that you will admission to any technology or engineering courses, at graduate or at post graduate level. You can go into doing graduation in biochemistry or microbiology and then try for doing research in genetics. In this way you can reach your dream destination of genetics.

You should have Physics, Chemistry and Maths as core subject for pursuing this course.

If you want to study in genetic engineering then after +2 you must do B.tech and after that you can do M.tech for higher study.

You can take admission in B.tech by any entrance exam like-
1) IIT-JEE
2) AIEE
3) BITS PILANI
4) YOUR STATE UNIVERSITY

Ofcourse why not if you are seeking admission in any of the top most colleges in India you definately need to pass through an entrance exam on all india basis.
Genetic is engineering is that branch of science where the genes are manipiulated in such a way that it proves beneficial to human being survival.

genetic engineering is master level course. you may study biotechnology or microbiology whatever you wish in graduation level. from both the subject you will able to take genetic engineering after graduation.

but i think biotechnology is better. you should choose biotechnology in B.Tech level to further study on genetic engineering in master degree level. because in biotechnology there are many subjects related to genetic engineering.

you also go for general study like B.sc on Physiology. after this course also you will be able to take genetic engineering at master degree level. choose the best suitable course for you and go for that.

Yes, it is very important to take biology in 1th if u wanna do genetic engineering. This is because genetic engineering is all about genes, which is biology.

i m a student studying in grade 12, as a bio student. I have a keen interest on genetics is the reason why i want to study genetic engineering. In my country nepal there's no colleges to study this. so i m too innocent to know what should i do after 12 grade to syudy this.

Can't we do B.E. in genetics?Is there any scope to genetic engineering?i want the list of colleges of genetics engineering in Maharashtra?what can we do after studing genetics engineering?Please inform me.
