Total number of attempts allowed in Indian Engineering Services is 4 for GEN category candidates.
OBC candidates are given 3 extra attempts i.e. total 7 attempts provided that you fulfill the age limit. For OBC candidates age limit is 21-33 years. This year the date to apply for IES has been passed. You can apply next year. visit: http://www.upsc.com/ |

Dear sir,
I want tell you that OBC student can attempt 7 times for IES exam and no limitation for SC /ST candidate.if you want sellection in IES you should clear exam within 7 attempts.i also want to tell that 21-30 ages candidate are allowed for this exam. |

Re: Number of attempts allowed in The issue of TANCET application form is announced in the month of March for OBC candidates?
Students under reserved category are given some extra attempts to apply for exam.
As you are under reserved category OBC so you can apply for Engineering Service Exam 7 times. |

Civil Service Examination - General-4, OBC-7, SC/ST- No restriction
IFS Examination- General-4, OBC-7, SC/ST-No restriction There is no restriction on number of attempts in any other Examination conducted by the UPSC Commission. |

The age limit for OBC candidates are 21 years to 33 years...
3 years more than general candidate... so they can give 3 attempts extra, i.e total 7 attempts... so OBC candidates can give 7 attempts. |

In UPSC Engineering Service Exams, The general candidates appear 4 times, So the maximum number of attempts allowed for general candidates is 4. So, the SC/ST And OBC Candidates will allowed 7 attempts in UPSC Engineering Service Exams. So, if you are interested to appear in this exams, then your age is between 21 to 33 years. And if you can not apply for this exams, then I will inform you that the dates are already over and you can not apply for this exams Now, because you can apply for this exams till 7/Feb/2011. for general student is 4....... and relaxable for reserved categories..... And for OBC it is 7 times. And for SC/ST it is 9 times. |

(II) Age Limits :
(a) A candidate must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have attained the age of 30 years on 1st January, 2010, i.e. he/she must have been born not earlier than 2nd January, 1980 and not later than 1st January, 1989. Candidates belonging to OBC category can give a maximum of 7 attempts in IES ( Indian Engineering Services ) conducted by UPSC.
The age limit for OBC category is 21 years to 33 years. The candidate must hold a degree of BE or BTech in any branch from a recognised university. Candidate can give IES exam during final year or afterwards. |

Civil services examination was conducted by UPSC Every year and to apply for this examination you need to complete your Graduation in any discipline form a recognised University and Your age should between 21 to 30 years. >> Upper age relaxation is applicable for SC, ST, OBC and other reserved category candidates, If you are belong to SC Category then you will get 5 year Relaxation on Age, So you are eligible to apply for Civil services examination between the age of 21 to 35 years. >> General candidates will gets 4 Attempts in this examination, OBC will gets - 7 Attempts But there is No Limits for SC, ST Candidates, They can apply the Civil Services examination Number of times. >> The Notification was Published in the employment Newspaper or in the UPSC Official website in the month of February every year, The schedule of Next year examination was Already updated in the website, official.. |

I belongs to OBC. but I heard that I need to submit Non Creamy layer for claiming under OBC.
Though i can get it , I will not get it before last date to apply for gate exam. what if I applied under open category? will it make any difference in ranking? Please reply... |

there is only age limit for engg. services....there is no limit on no of attempts..i don't know where did they get 4 and 7 attempts concept(*that was for civils andIFS only).....i request moderators to please verify once before publishing...

Engineering Service mean Indian Engineering Service conducted by UPSC every year for appointment of young engineers in the Top technical post under various Central Govt. Dept. of India.
The eligible candidate must be an Indian national having either appear for the final B.Tech. Degree exam or pass in any stream from a recognised University within the age of 21 to 30 years with upper age relaxation for reserved candidate. There is certain restriction for number of attempts to IES exam:- For OBC Candidate - 7 attempts For General Candidate - 4 attempts There is no such restriction for SC/ST category candidate.
