IFS General English Papers
IFS or Indian Forest Services exam is an important examination conducted by the UPSC for various posts under IFS. This exam is conducted every year for the vacant seats. The candidates who will apply for this exam must ensure that he/she fulfills all the eligibility criteria for appearing for the examination. The number of attempts for appearing in this exam is restricted to 4 for general candidates. However, other backward classes are given 7 attempts to appear for this exam.
Paper Pattern
The paper standard of the General English paper will be such which is expected of an Engineering Graduate or a Science Graduate from an Indian University. The General English Paper consists of 300 marks question and time allotted is 3 hours. The candidates are required to write an essay in 800-100 words in English. They would be given few choices to select for their essay writing. The marks allotted for Essay writing is 100. Other questions which are there in the paper are designed to check the candidate’s understanding of English and workmanlike use of words. Passages are usually set for précis or summary.
