First of all you need to complete your graduation and post graduation. You can choose to specialize in any of the areas like mathematics, physical science, engineering or biological science. Thereafter you can take further specialization like PH.d in Astrophysics, Geophysics, Metaphysics. It is important that the candidates pursue the course from reputed institutes like IISC, IIT. Also they can try to secure a job research institutes like ISRO, DRDO etc.

Hi friend,

You need only 35% to clear 12th std exam. But to get a good college and to become a engineer from top level college you need to get good marks, at least 60%.

And you need to do aeronautical engineering in B.E. for becoming an astronaut. And to join in any technical jobs you can study Astrophysics, Geophysics etc.

Astronuat is something whose preparation starts from scrap
  • read everthing you can get your hands on about astronauts, space and whatever field you want to work in.
  • For astronuat a college degree is necessity and of course the grades in too either it is engineering, biological or physical sciencd or mathematics.
  • If you do M.S it is well and good.

After college you need 3 years of related experience in your field.

after degree and some experience its time to apply for astronauts positions.NASA recieces an averge of 4015 application to fill around 20 slots for every 2 years.and they call around 118 applicants from total for ASB interview based on
experience
potentioal
motivation
ability to function as team
and communication skill.

If applicant intersted in pilot or commandor position then instead of mission specialist then you have to go for at least 1000 hours of flight time in commant of a jet aircraft. These type of training you have to face and need to do in future that why many Many applicants do not meet medical standards while others withdraw after learning all that the job entails. After all these incidents Astronaut Selection Board chooses final candidates and pass to NASA and their decision will be final.
Be prepare physically and Mentally as this not the 9-5 job which one expect but a 24 to 24 hr full dedication........

To become an astronaut you can go for engineering program in either Aerospace or Aeronautical field. Now you have to do your higher secondary education the science stream. You have to study PCM specialization in the plus-two level. You need to score an aggregate of 65% in the 12th board exam. Then you need to take the common entrance test conducted by various institutes/universities. IIT-JEE, AIEEE etc. are the known entrance exams in the country for the engineering aspirants. Only well prepared students can clear these exams. For this you can start your preparation at your plus-two level itself. If you are not interested for the Engineering background you can opt for three year undergraduate program in Mathematics, Biological or Physical science from the recognized university. After the completion of the graduate course you will be able to take the exams conducted by NASA, ISRO etc. for the astronaut aspirants.

To become an astronauts you have to get these basic requirements-

Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in engineering, biological science, physical science, or mathematics.

At least 1,000 hours pilot-in-command time in jet aircraft. Flight test experience is highly desirable.

Ability to pass a NASA space physical which is similar to a military or civilian flight physical and includes the following specific standards -

Distant visual acuity- 20/100 or better uncorrected, correctable to 20/20 each eye.

Blood pressure- 140/90 measured in a sitting position.

Height between 62 and 75 inches.

To get seats in a top level engineering colleges you need at least more than 60%. That also will be only average marks and you will get average college only. Get high marks and get good college.

12th boards is a one time in life time opportunity. Do not study to get percentage. Aim for the 100% rather. And get the maximum you can.

Otherwise, for your information :

1. All the engineering colleges in India require a minimum of 60% aggregate in your 12th boards, and above 60 marks in all the 3 science subjects.

If you aspire to become an astronaut, then studies and books would be your life till then.

Astronauts are highly qualified people, and they know almost everything about their subject.

Firstly after your 12th, you can do engineering in Aeronautics, Electronics and Communication, Mechanical, Civil, Electrical in order to choose a stream for which you want to keep your specialization limited to.

Next, you have to do your master's from a very good college so that you have an area of specialization such as Radar communication, satellite communication, VLSI & Embedded systems etc

Preferably if you do your B Tech and M Tech from the IIT's you would increase your chances of becoming an astronaut much more.

After that you can apply to the space centres all over India, and abroad. I am listing some of them :

1. ISRO
2. Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre
3. Satish Dhawan Space Centre
4. NASA
5. Mexican Space Agency
6. Canadian Space Agency
7. Italian Space Agency

and many more.

All the best.

Its not about the percentage you may just require to have 60% marks in your 12th class but you have to work hard to crack entrance test get enroll in astronaut institution visit : http://www.iisc.ac.in/ for more details.
