NDA stands for National Defence Academy. Every year, UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) is going to conduct NDA Exam twice a year.

This is the common written exam for the candidates to be placed in the following defence services
-Army wing
-Navy wing
-Air Force wing.

It is must that the candidate should have gone through Physics and Mathematics as the compulsory subjects in 12th class to be eligible to apply for Navy and Air Force wings.

But, in order to apply for Army wing, candidates should have completed 12th class with any of the stream.

Candidates who are pursuing or have appeared for final year of 12th class and waiting for the result can also apply and appear for this exam. But, they should be able to show the proof of passing in Graduation when they appear for Interview.

The selection procedure will involve the following stages
-Written Exam
-Interview
later on, the candidate has also to go with Medical test.

As per required age criteria which you need to know,

-One should possess an age between 16 1/2 years to 19 years to be eligible for this exam.

No relaxaion is there in upper age limit for the candidates of any category.

the age limit for nda is 18-21 years. By NDA you can join in army or navy or airforce. They have also introduced b.tech in naval academy in Ejimalla,Kerala.

In month of April and august.

The candidate who pass 12th with any stream is eligible for N.D.A exam.

The age limit for N.D.A exam is 16.5-19 year.

I wanna ask that what's the age criteria for air force preference in nda 2012.. coz i filled the form (part -1) but its showing that my age criteria doesnt match wit the given preferance.. while i'll be 18 on 23 june 2012

age factor in defence is one of the major factor.A candidate must be an unmarried male and have attained the age of 16 1/2 years and must not have attained the age 19 years on the 1st January of the year of examination.
Candidates must not marry until they complete their full training. A candidate who marries subsequent to the date of his application, though successful will not be selected for training..

10+2 study is the eligibility for writting the NDA test. That means your age should be 15 years to attempt NDA exam.after the completion of your intermediate you can soonly apply to NDA when the notification is released. In the NDA examination you get the quetions on general knowledge and general awreness and the total topics you covered from your 1st class to intermediete.hence you have to prepare 8th,9th,10th, and inter maths,physics and chemistry. Your chest should be well developed, fully expanded chest should not be less than 81 cms. The minimum range of expansion after full inspiration should be 5 cms

You should be able to read in a distant vision chart 6/6 in better eye and 6/9 in worse eye with or without glasses. Myopia should not be more than 2.5 D and hypermetropia not more than 3.5 D including Astigmatism.

Physical conditioning:
-----------------------

You are advised to keep Yourself in good physical condition, by following given Routine :

~~ Running 2.4 km in 15 minutes
~~ Skipping
~~ Pushups and sit ups (minimum 20 each)
~~ Chin ups (minimum 08)
~~ Rope climbing - 3-4 metres.

Full form of NDA is National Defense Academy. The examination for those candidates who are interested to enter this academy is conducted by the Union Public Service Commission. For twice a year this exam is conducted and you can enter the following wings:-

1. Army Wing
2. Air Force Wing
3. Naval Wing

Following eligibility criteria needs to be satisfied to enter the Academy:-

--You need to be a citizen of India.

--This exam is only for the male candidates of India who are not married. Unfortunately girls are not allowed to give this exam.

--The minimum educational qualification required is that you need to successfully pass the higher secondary examination or its equivalent of a recognized board.

--You have the option to choose any subject combination at 10+2 level. It is of no vital importance here if you want to join Indian Military Academy.

--If you want to join the Air Force or Naval wing then you should be a 12th pass out conducted by a recognized board and at the same time you should have physics and mathematics as their compulsory subject at 10+2 level.

--Your age should be between 16.5 and 19 years. During this time period you are not allowed to get married. On doing so you will be asked to leave the academy.

Written Examination, Intelligence/Personality Test and Medical Test by Service Examination Board are the hurdles you need to cross to get selected. Total 900 marks have been allotted for the exam. 300 marks is for Mathematics and 600 is for the second section called the General Ability Test.

The exam is mainly an objective type test and you will get the option to answer the questions either in English or Hindi. The intelligence and personality section carries 900 marks approximately and it is basically conducted to know more to test your mental agility, flexibility and your interest about various issues.
